And are now suffering from all sorts of brain damage and illnessesImo mate there should be no best player in the world of all time, every generation & every position is different. The 80's-to early 21st century the players were so much tougher all over the field, these days they've got to be so much quicker & skilfull. I really think half these players these days couldn't play 80 at all back in that recent era, even the backline players. Some of these players these days go down like flies, the last generation just got straight back up & played on.
15 at Suncorp or Gabba as home or away side and 3 other QLD based games (18 within QLD)Just read Brisbane had 24 home game, 25 7 day turn around. FMD that is just beyond a joke.
Did a good job, no complaints, but he was obviously auditioning for a gig for next year's origin series if his first half performance is anything to go by.Gotta give props to Adam Gee in that one, too. Good reffing. Stayed out of it.
Yeah it's fair that these days its much more about player safety however we can't deny that back in those days before all this stuff came out that the players were so much tougher & stronger. Hence why imo there should be no player stated as the worlds best player of all time. Every generation of players were so much different to each otherAnd are now suffering from all sorts of brain damage and illnesses
I loved the old rough and tough days don’t get me wrong, but it’s now all about safetyYeah

Shame they can't do this every game. I know the players are more careful during a GF, so there are less likely to be penalties. But the two cases where the player stayed down are textbook examples of how it should be handled every week of the year.Gotta give props to Adam Gee in that one, too. Good reffing. Stayed out of it.
They are every bit as tough on the filed, but being pampered off it definitely builds a different impression. Watching players drive around in Saabs, take selfies in their Budgie Smugglers and warm up with stretchy bands and calisthenics doesn't quite build the same image as seeing Tommy Raudonikis getting slapped around by a teammate, Mick Neil jogging in the dressing sheds, or knowing someone stacks bricks for 50+ hours per week.Because ref flows the whistle
Sure we can
Pick two teams of comparable profiles from early 80s and now and the modern team would blow them off the park. Bigger, stronger, faster, more skilful and just as tough.
And lost .He was man of the match against a finals team in the last round of the season.
Funny, I remember beating CanberraAnd lost .
I don't think players are more careful, they just let more stuff go. Flops, inside the 10m, offsides and slowing down the play the ball penalties just disappear... Adam 'six again' Gee only blew 1 for the whole game.Shame they can't do this every game. I know the players are more careful during a GF, so there are less likely to be penalties.
