Hi All,

I am currently pestering the club to improve the game day experience. Could you please answer the following if you have time.

Do you:

- Buy your tickets on game day at the windows?
If you do, would you print at home or use a smart phone download if you had the option to reduce queuing time?

- Eat at the game?
Are you satisified with the food offering? Would you prefer more gourmet options like Gozleme, noodle boxes or Wood Fire Pizza at a slightly higher price?

-Drink at the game?
Do you actually enjoy VB in a plastic cup? Would you pay slightly extra for boutique beers or cider?

-Enjoy how the scoreboard breaks down at least once a game?

- Go back to the club to kick on?

Would you spend longer in the club if they offered more professional entertainment (bands etc)

Finally, what is your biggest gripe about game day (that can be fixed)?

In your head, rent free
good topic of discussion, im not going to piss and moan about food prices, long lines ect, because, well, thats what happens when you have a small ground.

the food that is served under the peter burns stand tastes stale, the hot chips are always burnt, meaning the oil hasnt been changed, and the rolls are rock hard.

we tried having red rooster there, but again, everyone complained about the price. its like a service station, you pay a mark up.

wood fire pizza's or noodle box might see the same action as taken towards red rooster.

as for the beers, isn't that subject to our beverage partner? VB is the lowest of low beer, but it does the trick. i wouldnt want to pay too much more for a beer, or i may as well pay for a mid strength burbon, which tastes better than beer anyway.

the score board is what it is. they need to re-do that, that piss ant rectangle on the E.T stand is about 20 years old. we need something decent, thats easy to see, not have to squint like a half blind person every 5 minutes.

i go to the club regardless after the game, entertainment isn't essential, as im usually on the smoking deck. generally after a game, all the talk in the leagues club is game discussion so a band isnt essential.

my biggest gripe on game day, when im standing up, the people behind me always yell at me, would be nice if the club provided 12000 milk creates for all the midgets they let in

Good thread bb.

My biggest bugbear is the guy out on the ground before kick-off and at halftime who's job description must be to talk for as long and annoyingly as possible.

Also, it may just be where I sit in the PB stand, but the PA volume is ridiculousy high.

I'm normally satisfied with the food, normally get stuff from the carts on the family hill, much better than the stuff under the Peter Burns stand. If there was a more goumet option, I would buy it.

I hate drinking VB. ANYTHING would be better than that.

Member.

Never eat inside the ground. Usually grab a feed at the club beforehand.

-Drink at the game?
VB isn't my beer of choice but it's adequate for me on game day. I would pay a bit more for better beers.

I go back for a beer or two. I actually find the bands annoying. Agree with Snow, must talk is about the game everyone has just watched.

Yeah that PA definitely needs turning down a few notches.

I should point out that the beer lines issue will not be fixed. Club management are constantly harassed by the LAC and RSA Marshalls for the amount of drunk people attempting to enter other venues after the game. We are lucky we even get to purchase full strength alcohol and we have been a pubic hair away from losing the licence altogether several times. Many other grounds are limited to half strength, or beer sales are halted at half time. The number of staffed is fixed so that lines will always be long, and people theoretically get less boozed as a result.

I have suggested that the bar staff start cutting people off when required, which never seems to happen, as people just load up with full trays, but that hasn't been enacted.

im sorry, but stiff **** to the other venues. if you have had enough to drink at one place and have been asked to leave you shouldnt be allowed to enter another anyway even if you try. that is not the clubs problem, that is a totally different problem altogether starting with having id scanners at all venues. if your booted from one place, you are blacklisted for the rest of the night from other venues as well. the technology is there, thats for sure.

I have membership, so generally don't have to. I have lined up with others though and it is terribly slow.

- Eat at the game?

Yes I generally do. I get a hotdog, which is exactly how I'd expect a hotdog from the football to be.

-Drink at the game?
Do you actually enjoy VB in a plastic cup? Would you pay slightly extra for boutique beers or cider?

Yes and probably no, but I can see the appeal for others.

-Enjoy how the scoreboard breaks down at least once a game?

I struggle to see it at the best of times, so I'm indifferent when it breaks down. :p

- Go back to the club to kick on?

Actually, I think it would be a top idea to promote "double headers" football plus a decent band. It doesn't need to be an overly great band, but something worth watching if you're already there. I'm thinking about the plethora of washed up 70's Aussie Rock bands that now do the RSL circuit.

Finally, what is your biggest gripe about game day (that can be fixed)?

losing :p

That's not how it works though Stevie. The RSA marshalls collate reports from all venues in the area after weekend trading. It was consistently reported that patrons were arriving at venues after being at the football, highly intoxicated and refused entry. That tells the marshall that there were drunk people at the football. The marshall acts on that and the LAC threatens to revoke our licence.

You can't tell me that there are not drunk people all over the show at Sharks games. I am yet to see anyone (myself included) get refused service. The lunatic chick who sat behind us in the PB concourse last year got staggeringly drunk off 2 or 3 trays every game. She was ejected by the cops for fighting TWICE. She never had a problem getting served.

I'm a ticketed member

- Eat at the game?
Sometimes I do and I generally try to get in early before the queues start. I nearly always get to the game before the 20s start so this is generally not a problem. On family days when I bring my wife and son, we bring all our food with us. It's just too expensive.

-Drink at the game?
I'm not a big beer drinker so I usually just have a pepsi max, nice and early. I'll have a flask of water in my bag. Queue lines don't bother me at all because I'm hardly ever in them.

-Enjoy how the scoreboard breaks down at least once a game?
I don't know how good other ground's scoreboards are so not sure if it is an issue or not. It is embarrassing though when it doesn't work properly. Then again, look at the SFS scoreboard. In our semi last year against the Cows they couldn't get the clock right so maybe it's a general problem.

- Go back to the club to kick on?
Never go back to the club, queues to get in are too long - I'm a member so why should I queue to get in? Too packed, too loud, too noisy. If I go to the club, I go before the game.

Finally, what is your biggest gripe about game day (that can be fixed)?

Like HB said earlier, some of the announcers are just plain annoying. Glenn Wheeler was OK, but that other annoying idiot (can't remember his name) that thinks he has to yell into the mic and speak at 50,000 high pitched decibels needs to be cut adrift. Why the PA speakers have to be so loud is beyond me, I can't take my son into the ET stand as it is way too loud, even last Friday's trial match with a small crowd he spent the whole game with both hands on his ears as you can see:

1604954_10152613201157738_2000713418_n.jpg

This was after we came down to watch the game from the sideline but it was still way to loud and he wasn't taking his hands of his ears until we were well out of the ground!

Hi All,

- Buy your tickets on game day at the windows?
Usually a ticketek member. When i wasnt i got them through ticketek

- Eat at the game?
I might grab a hot dog or something. Nothing much so I dont uind spending $8 as a one off. It's the footy, its what you expect.

-Drink at the game?
I dont mind VB. Beer is beer and im usually too rotten to taste tastes or feel feelings by the time i arrive at the game. I've never really had too many issues with lines e.t.c. even at the local derby

-Enjoy how the scoreboard breaks down at least once a game?
Never noticed. I usually break down 2-3 times a game so maybe we are in sequence

- Go back to the club to kick on?

yeah I go back whenever I can. not too keen for additional entertainment or anything. it just makes me dance like a god damn imbecile.

Finally, what is your biggest gripe about game day (that can be fixed)?
I'd like to enjoy a smoke and watch the game simultaneously. But them rules are them rules. No huge gripes. I'm all for having a good time, but if someone is walking around with piss stains all over their shorts they should be asked to leave. Maybe give them a free cab ride down to Northies

If you present noticbly drunk to another venue, it's easy enough for them to refuse entry. But no, the door staff at these venues are usually more concerned with harrassing clearly sober people about something trivial and totally irrelevelant.

Yeah It's out of whack. I do need to stress that rather than complaining about beer lines we should remember that we are extremely fortunate to have a licence at all. When they only serve mid strength or serve no alcohol at all, people will dream about the days you could stand in a long line and get VB full strength.

fair enough mate. i just think that having other prventative measures in place are a better way to go instead of just taking licenses off people and runing it for everyone because of the actions of a few.

starting with security at the games. they stand at the start of the beer and clearly let drunk people in the lines. they should be stopped right there and asked to leave.

You are dead right about security. It is a bug bear of mine that hammered people so easily get served.

Hi All,

Have a membership, but yes I would print at home/smart phone d/l.

- Eat at the game?
Are you satisified with the food offering? Would you prefer more gourmet options like Gozleme, noodle boxes or Wood Fire Pizza at a slightly higher price?

Reasonably happy with the food. It's not great (at all) but it's sort of part of the charm.

-Drink at the game?
Do you actually enjoy VB in a plastic cup? Would you pay slightly extra for boutique beers or cider?

I love that we can get full strength beer, but $6.50 for a cup is pretty steep - especially when they can never seem to fill em up/poor them well.

-Enjoy how the scoreboard breaks down at least once a game?

Yes I do. It's pretty funny.

- Go back to the club to kick on?

Would you spend longer in the club if they offered more professional entertainment (bands etc)

I don't often head back into the club after the game, usually jumping on one of the free buses. I guess if there was more reason to stay I would.

Finally, what is your biggest gripe about game day (that can be fixed)?

That they don't play the Jaws music anymore. They should play it when we're in the opposition 30
