Question for me is does Val have the same ball playing skills as Jack?

Jack's ball playing skills aren't amazing, should have passed to Feki and blew a try. Likes to run it himself too much, I think Val is more than happy to dish it out to his wing like Barba was.

I hope he gets hauled over the coals by Flanno for that.

Id be throwing Val into fullback at reggies. Hes barely had a pre-season with game time now. Let him warm up, catch some bombs ect in reggies and return vs Eels.

Or, give Feki a break.Start Edrick next to leautele and holmes in his wing spot. If we get a lead during the match then switch him to fullback.

You don't put players of his class in reggies, no chance that will happen and nor should it.

Thanks for all your responses guys. I'm amazed that the response is fairly even, Val is just ahead by a few votes.

For me, I'd have Val, as long as he is fit. I really don't like Bird at Fullback even though he played well Saturday night.
I still think Jack's best days will be in the number 11, 12 or 13 jersey. I'd be giving him Gal's jersey next year if Gal doesn't play on.

I'd have Bird in Lewis' spot or in the centres next year dependent on how he fills out.

I'd go Bird while Val gets his match fitness up. Also dragons won't test us as much as the eels will next week so I think we should give him another shot there, will be good for our depth. Val can slot back there next week and rotate with birdy if needed.

I think it's a big mistake to go into any game with that kind of attitude. Don't forget they beat us last year.

There's no easy games in the NRL. They're all tough games. You have to have your head in the right place. You can't take the opposition too lightly. Just 5% off your game can be a disaster.
Take it one game at a time. Never get ahead of yourself. Always be prepared.

Says the bloke who started the thread about a three-peat.

Val will wear #1 but I wouldn't be surprised to see him spend a bit of time on the wing during certain situations the game. Depends on whether Lee stays on the wing or if Beale takes his spot - there are certain scenarios where it might be beneficial to have Val on the right edge for finishing or defending.

Bird went ok,leave him there, till we lose or he mucks up the chance. Then the questions settled after Val then gets his chance.

That's the worst attitude to have. We can beat anybody in this competition but we can also lose to anybody in this competition. No such thing as an easy game in the NRL.
