Dutchie, at what stage did I say Karmichael Hunt was the best fullback going round??????

All I said was that he kick returns are done with purpose and pace, something Simmons lacks, yes he does it and yes he has a go but not the same intensity.

Mega I respect your opinion and your entitled to it, BUT there are plenty of soft footballers in the NRL, trust me, and they get exposed by opposing teams all the time, who run through or over the top of them. Another example for you and Dutchie about players who make rep teams and are soft and the prime example of that is Ryles, before he got injured with pectoral injury or bicep injury he was a montser and since then he is soft and not the same player.

Chris Walker is another soft footballer, there are plenty.

Don't confuse people saying Simmons is soft in parts, with piss him off he is useless and not worth the peice of paper his name is written on. There are times he has put his body on the line yes, but more often then not his intensity in kick returns and purpose lacks. As someone once said in this forum ages ago, he at times looks like a scared deer caught in fog lights. But in saying that I look forward to and hope his lacking part of his game improves 110% because he potentially be a representative player.

Yes Hrvatska I remember the game you are talking about and I agree that he had a shocker that day. But he is only young and there's no doubt he has plenty of talent, I saw that at the Warriors and I believe he'll feature in the Cowboys first grade plans for the upcoming season, they have signed him as cover for Matty Bowen and I believe he'll get plenty of gametime in the event of Bowen being injured.

toshio, reminds me a lot of manu vatuvei (warriors and new zealand), they are both very talented, they both use the talent if they can, but both of them have a bit of trouble doing the basics. vatuvei is the knock-on king, compared to vatuvei, beau scott has the handling of andrew johns!
however, i think they have made an error in getting rid of toshio, lets hope he comes back and plays well!

I think our recruiting and releasing for this season has been good to be honest.

Maybe a couple more juniors should of been held onto like TC.

Simmo has already had a taste of rep footy, he played City Origin last season, and I am sure he will win many more rep jumpers in the years to come. That aside, I agree to a point what you are saying about players who could be considered "soft", but I think we must differentiate between the two examples you mentioned, Ryles and Chris Walker - Ryles is a former rep player who as you correctly stated has been lacking confidence since returning from a chronic injury, whereas Walker's problems do not seem to be injury-related at all, he is a problem child whose career has been on the skids ever since he left the Broncos. I see the Titans have thrown him a lifeline for next season, and I believe they will be something like his 5th or 6th NRL club, that says a lot about the issues he has had but whether we can put it down to "softness", I really do not know, probably a psychiatrist is better qualified than you or I to make that judgment!

Hey Great White you didnt but I was just saying that I think he shouldnt have been in the Australian side, and as for timed returns, what about the one he ran backwards and got tackled in goal? Really well timed there haha

What position was he in that Rep game?

Winger.

Great tallent, Great winger, Promising future, Not a fullback... Yet.

Yes that's right Kelpie, he was a late call-up into the side on the wing in place of El Masri, while Hodgson got the fullback spot. Simmo scored a smart try in that game and Gallen also played well and set up another to Rooney.

There are a few other options, Hodgson was good untill the 3rd Origin, I would of had Hodges at fullback or Greg Inglis. Or even Shicofiske

But Hodges and Inglis were already in the side and performed in their respective positions? And why would yo not want all that talent in the same side, Hunt included?

Hunt is a far more realistic fullback option then Schifcofske. And Hunt could not really be faulted through his finals campaign?

I am not a big fan of Karmichael either, in Minichiello's absence I would have either gone for Inglis, or if you are looking for a specialist then Luke Patten or Rhys Wesser, they are both great fullbacks.

But Hodges and Inglis were already in the side and performed in their respective positions?

I agree about Hodges, he really is a centre and not a fullback, but I think Inglis was wasted out on the wing and would prefer to have seen him at fullback or in the centres; probably fullback since Gasnier, Hodges and Lyon had the centre positions pretty well covered.

They wouldn't of picked him because he was going to Union, plus there are better fullbacks then him, not that he isn't fantastic.

I think they just wanted all that talent in one team Mega.

I still cannot believe he went to union, I know he wanted to return to Qld for family reasons but I would have thought the Titans or even the Broncos would have shown some interest? He is an Origin player, after all.
