VB Kangaroos Head to Paris
6 November 2009

It will be a new-look VB Kangaroos team that tackles France in the Gillette Four Nations match in Paris on Saturday – in more ways than one.

VB Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens has made seven changes to the side that defeated England in Wigan last weekend, while the players will also be wearing new-look jerseys in support of ‘Movember’ – a campaign to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and men’s depression.

A number of VB Kangaroos players will be sporting moustaches in support of the campaign on what will be a historic occasion for skipper Darren Lockyer and prop Petero Civoniceva.

Lockyer will become the most capped Australian Test captain (28) in this match, while Civoniceva will join John Raper as the most capped Australian Test forward (39).

While the Sharks Paul Gallen has succumbed to a neck injury, centres Josh Morris and Michael Jennings will make their Test debuts for Australia.

Morris and his brother, Brett, will become the first brothers to play for the Kangaroos since Darren and Jason Smith in 1999 and the first twins since Kevin and Kerrod Walters in 1991.

The team will have a reception at the Australian Embassy in Paris tonight.

The VB Kangaroos side to play France at Charlety Stadium, Paris, starting at 3.30pm local time (2.30pm GMT) is:

Kurt Gidley
Brett Morris
Josh Morris
Michael Jennings
Jarryd Hayne
Darren Lockyer
Johnathan Thurston
Ben Hannant
Robbie Farah
Petero Civoniceva
Trent Waterhouse
Ryan Hoffman
Nathan Hindmarsh
Sam Thaiday
David Shillington
Luke Lewis
Cooper Cronk

That seems largely an Australian 'A' side if there ever was such a thing in rugby league. Interesting question that, has there ever been such a thing? Anyway is anyone staying up to watch? I think i might tape it and watch it tomorrow morning before the wide world of sports.

Alright that game turned into a good old fashioned floggin' But it was pretty close for most of the first half. I think Cronk outplayed both thurston and lockyer and i dont think those 2 should be automatic selections any more. I wouldve given my man of the match to brett morris cause he played extremely well but i guess jennings deserved it too. Forwards never ever seem to win the man of the match which is a shame cause they sometimes deserve it. Gidley played okay but i wouldve like to see hayne at fullback sometime this series but now it doesnt look like thats gonna happen. Gallen better be fit and picked for the next game too.
