WHO wants to be a millionaire? Or, more appropriately for these pages, who wants to be a millionaire - and with some loose change buy a sporting franchise to play with? Clive Palmer has come and gone, now Nathan Tinkler has shown his worth (in one sense).

Clive Palmer has come and gone, now Nathan Tinkler has shown his worth (in one sense). Private ownership might appear to be a golden ticket for clubs, but clearly it doesn't always pay to have rich and powerful businessmen running such things. We still have Russell Crowe and Tony Sage, as well as the Collingwood president Eddie McGuire, more accustomed to making millionaires. Who next?

Richard Branson: The man is so eccentric and rich it is a minor miracle he hasn't accidentally bought a sporting franchise during a night out at the local. That said, he has had experience as a former owner of Super League club London Broncos. He's also a man for a gimmick, so it would be appropriate for the boss of a company called Virgin Group to find his way to a club that has never won a premiership. Cronulla, meet Richard.
