Unfortunately i don't think he needs to prove his worth to those that matter.

Besides that first 15 I thought Capewell was a mile ahead of Ricky in literally every facet of the game.

Strong, fast, hungry, tough defender and found the try line. Get those clumsy errors out and he's in my side round 1.

I honestly wasn't that impressed with Capewell. It may have just been the errors clouding my judgement though. Also most of the team was rank average so it's hard to read too much into it. He was still the best centre we had out there.

Poly et showed how not to press for a first grade spot. Seemed to lack any real punch forward wise except for taga. Bird was OK not the superstar performance some seem to be claiming. Very vocal though from fullback.

Was Maloney and Townsend on the field at the same time? Did they defend on opposite sides of the field or the same side?

If Flano decides Townsend gets a start then I can see teams targeting these 2 in defense. They will have a field day, which is why I'd have Townsend playing for Newton. That and he leaves alot to be desired as a half.

Halves never defend next to each other, or at least not that I've seen. They defended on different sides.

Townsend has a lot more to offer then our next best half, that has to be obvious.

Normally yes they do, but this is Flano.

I wouldn't say Chad is any better than Bird at half. I'd even put Nu in there before Chad. At least Nu isn't so predictable and 1 dimensional.

Every team will target Maloney, I was more disturbed how pedestrian we were in defence manly made 60+ meters every set. I'm willing to stay calm till after next week when we run out with a stronger squad. Media trying talk up Maloney and birds effort against a weak manly side, read one review that mentioned Maloney converting vals try, he wasn't even on the field hadn't been for awhile so I assume they don't even watch.
I'm happy to mark manly a B
Us very low C or D

They sure will, but they will also target Chad. That's 2 defensive liabilities on the field 100% of the time. I really hope Flano has thought about this.
I'm holding out hope that Chad mk 2, has come back a better player, certainly yesterday he looked more than ok. We have enough hard head old tacklers that can help cover if required.

IMHO bird is centre, not a FB. He had A few errors in his game. It should be Barba as FB, Holmes as his back up.

While centres should be Bird and Beale, with Capewell and Brown as back up. Ricky needs time in NSW Cup.

McIllwick putting pressure on Nu Brown hugely on back up hooker, and look liked he had the edge on Nu yesterday, however it is good to see Nu back playing for club.

Tag was a beast yesterday and JSL wasn't far off it either. Tags got his start spot again and hope he continues that form, while JSL should get that bench spot

Lets only pick forwards so everyone is a good defender.

Every club targets halves. That's the nature of the game. Isolate a small man with a big bloke running at him. We had a half who was supposed to be gun defender. Look how that worked for us. I'm confident that the attacking game and kicking game of Townsend and Maloney will more than make up for any defensive deficiencies.

Or recruit halves that can tackle. They do exist.

Ever heard of Pierce or Cronk?
Didn't realise they were off contract last season. We probably should have just kept Robbo, man there's a half that can tackle (I'm getting a horn thinking about how much better we would be with Robbo).

I hope you're right.

Maloney is a worry in defense however he is a proven representative half. Chad on the other hand really has something to prove.
