First ever Rugby League game you attended

1) What was the first rugby league game you ever attended?
2) What was the first rugby league game (involving the Sharks that you ever attended)?

For me:

1) Rd 12, 1994 - Newcastle vs St George at Marathon Stadium

Was only 7 at the time. Don't remember a lot from this game, other than the fact Gorden Tallis got sent off for headbutting Russell Wyer (I think) and the emergence of a then 20-yr old Joey Johns. "The rampaging bull" avoided suspension, so he could play in State of Origin. Over 30,000 ppl packed in the ground that day. Ground was sooo packed, you couldn't even move. Ppl sitting everywhere. I'm glad they've lowered the capacity to 26,000 there.

2) Rd 13, 1999 - Newcastle vs Cronulla at Marathon Stadium

Paul 'The Chief" Harragons farewell. Knights upset Sharks 26-18 (Sharks were very good that year, finishing with the minor-premiership. Man, the Sharks had a good side back then). IIRC, Jason Stevens got suspended for a lengthy period of time for a pretty bad tackle (8 matches)

My first rugby league game was with my dad when i was about 6 and we saw the Australia vs England match back in 1988 i think and Australia lost that game i think when some Pommy winger scored in the corner to win the match for them

My first Sharks game i went to was a Dragons V Sharks at the old Kogarah ground in 1993 with my grand parents who were both Dragons fans and i was about 11 at the time.

Sharks won 18-6...happy tiimes

not sure what year but it was dragons vs bulldogs. and my dad ALMOST converted me to become a dragons. and the first sharks game i went to was........god i cant remember i think it was agaisnt the dragons

my first sharks win came i think it was against the tigers in 2001 or eels in 98 or 00

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been 1997, as that was the Super League year (Parramatta were with ARL, Cronulla with Super League, hence they wouldn't have played each other).

it was 98..couldnt remember..trying to put it together with what year i was in at school and when i went...

My first game was back in 1972 a trial match at Redfern Oval between Souths and Cronulla. Believe it or not I actually started following Souths as a youngster because of all the premierships they won.
But all the kids I went with followed the Sharks and because I lived in the shire and they all followed Cronulla and they threatened to throw my Souths jumper out of the car window on the way home I became a Sharks fan.

Also Cronulla actually beat Souths that night, can't remember the score although I know it wasn't a thrashing. But I thought they weren't a bad side and since I was a local I should follow them.
