Here are comments by a few Sharks Forever members on the performances of Filiga and Green in the Souths trial - doesn't make particularly encouraging reading, but we got a real touch up from the Bunnies that night so standout performances were few and far between - young Nathan Stapleton received most of the wraps from that hitout.

31. Karlos Filiga: Well for a 19-20 year old that didn't play a match last season through injury was understandably rusty, did not recieve quality ball from the halves (in particular Blake Green who was on the left side with him), did belt Widders in defence though jarring the ball loose, good size centre though, IMO not ready for fg yet.

6. Blake Green: Was very poor, not much I can say here guys, very disappointing. Has good potential so I'm not writing him off yet.

31 Karl Filiga -through some terrible passes, looked barely competent IMO.

6 Blake Green - tried all night but just had nothing on his own.

31. Filiga, what you could expect from an 18 yr old who played his first NRL game after an injury, couple of hesitant runs and terrible passes, but defended ok, then put a great hit on Widders, then grew in confidence, made the only genuine break in the game that even remotely looked like scoring before been bundle over the sideline. He at least looked strong and dangerous, and to me with games under the belt, looks a good player.

6. Green, tried hard, looked uncomfortabel in patches and comfortable in others, couple of nice tuches, overall ordinary.

I haven't read so much about individual performances in the Knights trial, but Filiga and Green were both on the interchange bench for that game - after Ricky took the established first graders off at halftime the Knights orchestrated a comeback win against our more inexperienced guys, so I guess that isn't overly encouraging either. Important to note though Wado that these were only trials and were designed to give the likes of Filiga and Green a hitout and a taste of what they will be up against when the competition proper starts. Hopefully it will be a good learning experience for both players and will not have knocked their confidence around too much.
