It is becoming more and more apparent with the player trading and movement that there is a HEAP of people on here that would like to see some ex players return to the Sharks, why I do not understand it?
In 99% of cases they have left because they had better offers, so why should we accept any of them back, there was no loyalty shown and most are past it. I will admit some may have be slightly shunned by the sharks management but why would we looking into the future and being forward thinking want these players back.
Please understand this is only my opinion too, BUT this type of mentality from us the fans helps to keep us in the same bogged down tracks were are in and under acheivers. This to me adds fuel to the medocrity fire.
For example, people say we should keep Dykes rather then Kimmorley because he is a local product etc etc. When their contracts are up we offer what their form says they are worth and if not piss them both off, blood new players and have a stronger policy like say the roosters or dogs, when their form and time is up get rid of them and look to the future, we always go the soft option.
Beattie, please he is way past it and was struggling to make first grade week in and week out the last year he was here.
Sullivan, yes he was good second last year he was here, the last year he was here, he had nowhere near the impact he had had previously, his mind didn't seem to be on the job (on other areas) and left us for more money ( I understand he had money issues to sort). Now after we were sympathetic and helped him before he left and he turned his back we should help him again??? Give Seymour a go.
Matt Rogers, A) we could not afford 300k a season for him as well, B) he will be 32 please we may as well have kept Vagana. Money spent better elsewhere.
Nutley, again left for more money and is 32, why would you want him at that age. I would rather spend money on a 20yr old 6ft 110kg monster.
Just a few examples, the only person that I wish would come back but would never would be Chris Anderson, I can guarantee if he had of stayed we would be rubbing our hands together this year about having the week off and having to play the winner of Eagles and Saints. We would have a winning culture and the depth and talent we would have in our juniors would be way more then what we do now. Just have a look at the players he signed for lesser money (are on more now obviously but we bought them for a song initially) Gallen, Bird, Bickerstaff, Nutley to name a couple and had a hand in developing.
We as supporters need to change our mentality too and start getting the attitude that winning is everything and what we want and deserve, we must remember we are following an NRL (multi million dollar business) club, results mean better facilities, sponsors, players and breeds confidence and more success.
I think the closest realistic thing to what we need and can have is Ricky Stuart, he may fail, he may succeed, BUT he will be tough, he will drop players needing to be dropped and he is a winner. He will also cop on the chin the losses and do something about them.We can not do any worse can we. I am not saying he is the sole answer just a person of his stature and attitude is a step in the right positive direction.
