It is becoming more and more apparent with the player trading and movement that there is a HEAP of people on here that would like to see some ex players return to the Sharks, why I do not understand it?

In 99% of cases they have left because they had better offers, so why should we accept any of them back, there was no loyalty shown and most are past it. I will admit some may have be slightly shunned by the sharks management but why would we looking into the future and being forward thinking want these players back.

Please understand this is only my opinion too, BUT this type of mentality from us the fans helps to keep us in the same bogged down tracks were are in and under acheivers. This to me adds fuel to the medocrity fire.

For example, people say we should keep Dykes rather then Kimmorley because he is a local product etc etc. When their contracts are up we offer what their form says they are worth and if not piss them both off, blood new players and have a stronger policy like say the roosters or dogs, when their form and time is up get rid of them and look to the future, we always go the soft option.

Beattie, please he is way past it and was struggling to make first grade week in and week out the last year he was here.

Sullivan, yes he was good second last year he was here, the last year he was here, he had nowhere near the impact he had had previously, his mind didn't seem to be on the job (on other areas) and left us for more money ( I understand he had money issues to sort). Now after we were sympathetic and helped him before he left and he turned his back we should help him again??? Give Seymour a go.

Matt Rogers, A) we could not afford 300k a season for him as well, B) he will be 32 please we may as well have kept Vagana. Money spent better elsewhere.

Nutley, again left for more money and is 32, why would you want him at that age. I would rather spend money on a 20yr old 6ft 110kg monster.

Just a few examples, the only person that I wish would come back but would never would be Chris Anderson, I can guarantee if he had of stayed we would be rubbing our hands together this year about having the week off and having to play the winner of Eagles and Saints. We would have a winning culture and the depth and talent we would have in our juniors would be way more then what we do now. Just have a look at the players he signed for lesser money (are on more now obviously but we bought them for a song initially) Gallen, Bird, Bickerstaff, Nutley to name a couple and had a hand in developing.

We as supporters need to change our mentality too and start getting the attitude that winning is everything and what we want and deserve, we must remember we are following an NRL (multi million dollar business) club, results mean better facilities, sponsors, players and breeds confidence and more success.

I think the closest realistic thing to what we need and can have is Ricky Stuart, he may fail, he may succeed, BUT he will be tough, he will drop players needing to be dropped and he is a winner. He will also cop on the chin the losses and do something about them.We can not do any worse can we. I am not saying he is the sole answer just a person of his stature and attitude is a step in the right positive direction.

Bloody good post Great White. i think most sharks fans would agree with you.
It's just not easy as a fan to see players you love running around in other colours, ie. peach, nuts, matty rogers. But the days when a player is loyaly to one club (or a club to a player) are long gone, we have to accept that. Sometimes it's easier said than done, hence the sentimental posts. what the hell's happening re raper anyway? anyone heard the latest?

Great post, perfectly sums up what I've been thinking, just too lazy to express in words.

Player/club loyalty is long gone. Money and success is the name of the game now. If you come across the odd one club man here and there, count yourself lucky, but don't go looking for it, chances are you'll be disappointed at what you find. I personally have no heart strings that stay attached to a player running in any colours other than black, white and blue. Like everyone, I loved the Peach, but when Sharks play Souths he is the enemy and I wish him no success for the next 80 minutes whatsoever.

The best post I have seen on hear for a while Great White. Well done. As for your question Hammerhead, my mail is that the Sharks management is going to take the soft option and keep Raper for next season. I really hope my informant is incorrect, because I can't go through another year like this one.

There's a new member that has joined on the 7-sept-2006, his name is gummy shark, very similar to mine in fact almost the same. I do welcome all new members to the best web site of all time, but please come up with a new name.

regarding the raper coaching issue, he will be kept but apparantly he will be demoted from the head coach position and ricky will be our head coach. we are only keeping raper because we don't have enough money to pay him out.

Agree %100 re Anderson.

As for players, you are correct, however there are exceptions, especially of late, where a lot of our promising young players have gone elsewhere.

Hey Great White, awesome post with some excellent analysis there. Everything you said makes a lot of sense and probably sums up exactly what most people on here have been thinking.

Agree Great White... I posted a comment on another thread about Mat Rogers and the fact we didnt sign him.... but in hindsight I think I was just really p i s s ed that our club hadn't even thought about it.. honestly I agree he may be past his use by date.... I would take Ando back in a heart beat... This club needs a new leader - on and off the paddock.

Agree 100% with you all, Ando was the best thing that happened to this club in a long time, the dribblers in the board could not see that though. People need to realise that if we don't change our ways very soon we will be like Souths at best, at worst we will not survive. This is big business and big decisions need to be made. What will happen next year if Raper is still coach? I don't wanna think of the horrible possibilities. Time to make a stand Sharks fans - big time. Enough of this 'we'll be right mate attitude' that exists in the club. Current and previous results have NOT been good enough

Like anyone else here, I totally agree with you Great White.
Aging players can still have an impact on the field but the club needs to go forward.
The club certainly won't build a premiership winning side looking back.
That's why bringing back John Lang would have been a mistake.

Well done Great White youth is the future and all Sharks fans need to look in that direction if we are to bring home the trophy that we have longed for. This weekend Toowoomba will play Redcliffe in the queensland cup final. Fraser Anderson will be playing, and as a new signing for the Sharks I will be watching to see how our new recruit goes. This is now a young mans game and the days of the 30 year old player are long gone. It will be new talent like Fraser that will have to leed the way if the Sharks are to have a brighter future.

I hate to say it but i reckon we're already in a worse position than souths. They are rebuilding: new management, new coach, topline players coming on board, more money in their coffers. We are unravelling at a great speed of knots: no faith in management or coach; players wanting out; crowds tumbling, money tight. Suddenly there's a smell of the 80s about the sharks again - that smell when things were really rotten. if the club doesn't turn things around soon, we will be history.

im waiting to see what comes out of this review.. waiting to see if anything happens with the coaching situation... and if it's all talk and no action i will be doing something. im not just going to let the club implode while this mob's asleep at the wheel.
