I must say, I wasn't really expecting this. Even from Flanno...

Good player in his day but the last time he played I think we still had Scott Porter in our side...

I'm a fan...he's a cult hero and will put bums on seats

Seriously if this guy is 3/4 of what he was a few years ago then I bet someone will be making one of those signs for the games..

Someone think of one now to get the ball rolling..

I just have these replays in my head of watching him play for the Eels

always rushing in from his centre/wing position getting caught out.

I don't have a problem with the signing of The Guru. He wouldn't have cost much, he's already generating publicity for the Club, which will result in membership sales and bums on seats.

He was a destructive ball runner in his day and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't still be. He has had a few years off to get his body right and if you are going to play anywhere at an older age, wing is the place to do it. They have less aerobic workload than other positions and rely more on strength, which peaks in your early thirties.

I think we will see him in first grade more often than not.

What a stupid ****in' signing. A 33, turning 34 year old winger. There is no positive here.

I know right. Who cares about a washed up Rugby League player and a failed musician?

The headlines all this year were ASADA this and ASADA that.

All the headlines next year will be about Eric Grothe's comeback, if it is even mildly sucessfull i.e he hits first grade and doesn't **** up it will get a run weekly.

The media love Guru Jnr.

Its 85k for positive media any perfomance on field is a plus.

So I guess it's official now.

A local Sutherland Shire resident, Grothe Jnr was looking forward to the challenge but wasn’t about to get too far ahead of himself, preferring to focus on the present rather than make bold predictions about what the future might bring.

“It’s a cliché but its important for me to just take every day as it comes,” Grothe said. “If I can put those bricks in place every day, hopefully there is a big wall at the end of it."

Interesting quote, not quite sure what the hell he's trying to say.
