That would make sense if a Manc assistant coach got the gig, but not Moyes. Why would Moyes want or need a mentor? If i was him I would not want Ferguson hanging around like a bad smell while I was trying to exert my personality on a new club.
Rooney apparently is having 2nd thoughts about leaving because of Moyes' appointment. I would let that prat go.
