Its just a publicity stunt, the bloke is a bonafied lunatic.

Before 2015 closes he will-

a) Offer to buy the Knights from the NRL
b) Put in a bid to buy the Dragons
c) Offer to foot the bill for an expansion team in Perth/QLD/NZ
d) All of the above

He claims he'd pay

Crowds would take a hit. All home games (in oz) would have 1 teams fans only.

I can't see him flying teams from here to there, maybe his team to Aus I could understand.

Thing I hate in any sport is one these multi dollar people get in and want to take over it doesn't always end well.

The bloke obviously has an interest in our game and a bundle of money burning a hole in his pocket so we shouldn't dismiss him entirely just cause of a **** idea.

I hope those in charge are working on viable, sustainable ways to utilise this man's money and passion for the game.

Imagine the size of the invoice Habib would put into the club after flying all the way over to England to watch a 'London Settler'

Club would go broke if it actually reimbursed him

As for expansion - ffs fix up the game as it stands and make it more consistent and credible before trying to expand it otherwise you are spreading an inferior product and only going to get the rusted on fans even more offside with the game and it's administration

30 rounds? 3 seperate weeks for origin and the 4 weeks for semi's?

37 weeks of games?

Too much for the players. IMO.

Its pretty simple. top 4 teams from each country do a knock out for the world club challenge. Alternating years for the location. This gives international exposure of enough players, without it being an international.

We play a world cup every 4 years, 4 nations between it. If they want to grow the international game they need more international events. An England based NRL team is not the answer.

Right now the NRL plays 26 rounds (24 games each), the 9s, 3 origin games, city-country, the Trans-Tasman test and the All Stars. International games are a must, there needs to be something to strive for to rep your country, like any other sport.

Drop the 9s.
Drop the trials.
Have trials VS ESL teams
Drop the All Stars and have a 1 off Origin game played mid season. Not a series. 1 year in QLD, next in NSW.
Not only does origin interrupt the season with players being out of their teams, plus increase player burn out, as we all know, we have rep-stars resting for the big games.

Let international rep games become the greatest achievement. It seems players want to make the Roos just to get the test jumper. But they want to play for their state more

I like the 9's. A bit of razzle dazzle fun and can also help us with adlib attacking "experiences".

Trials. A mix of NRL and ESL or just ESL, it doesn't bother me either way, but they are a necessary evil to work combinations etc for the new blokes coming into a side.

All Stars. Totally agree BWB. Even Bennett hasn't selected any Broncos because he doesn't beleive in it. The only bronco is the one picked by the public and Broncos MUST play!

Origin. I'm undecided but think stand alone weekends in a series format or one off game every year with all club sides to go bush and run footy clinics.

My 2.02 cents worth (GST)

9's I can see as a great little 2 day vehicle to spread the word. Kind of like a brochure for Rugby League - a quick snap shot of the game used to garner interest in the bigger picture. We keep making it work in Auckland for the duration of the 5yr contract and then we can sell it all over the place, but unlike Origin its not reliant on QLD & NSW rivalry so could feasibly be picked up anywhere by anyone.

We own it and grow it. Perhaps different nations (even just ESL & NRL to begin with) hold their own then once it grows compete against each other.

I'd recommend keeping it well inline with normal 13 a side rugby league though and not going down a similar path as Rugby Union 7's where it seems you either play for one or the other. It has to remain somewhat reliant on the proper game. We don't want branch off bull**** like T20. So keep it Club-based - as the popularity and most importantly prize money grows, we won't need the stars of the game to be contractually obligated to play, it'll be like Origin where they get money to play.

Finally just on BWB's mention of making Origin a 1 game thing - never gonna happen. I have no idea of the monetary figures but the SOO series is the highest rating thing on Australian television and brings in about as much coin for the game in its 6wks as the comp does in 30. I agree we need to find a way to stop its massive impact on the competition, but its going nowhere and that is a good thing.
