Do you like sitting near the opposition fans?

I was just on a supporters forum for my EPL team West Brom and there was a discussion there on pubs to drink at while on the way to the next game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. I noticed that some pubs in London have signs outside of them saying "HOME FANS ONLY".

I was horrified. To my knowledge I don't know of any pubs or clubs in the Shire that would ban away fans from entering their premises.

I'm aware there is segregation of fans in EPL games to avoid brawls and fights but didn't realise it extended to pubs and clubs as well.

I then thought of asking the question to you all - do you like sitting next to oppposition fans whether the Sharks are at home or not? Or do you prefer to sit among the Black, White and Blue (Got that right didn't I B&B?)

Does anyone have any classic stories about sitting next to opposing team's fans?

hardly a great story but me and deathmoth went to a game when we were in high school, i was probably 14 maybe. It was a night game, vs the Knights and we sat in the seats in front of the family hill. It was a game we blew the Knights off the park and Peachey scored some memorable tries. The Knights fans were walked out with more than 10 to go. I was only youngish so wasnt getting lippy, but some Sharks fans were getting stuck into them. It was brilliant.

I was also at the 2002 game Knights vs Bulldogs with my gfs family. They were all Knights supporters and I hate them, so when El Magic kicked the sideline conversion on fulltime to win them the game (after being about 19-0 down i think at half time), the entire stadium of Knights fans were silenced. Seeing Knights fans sad is almost as good as a Sharks victory to me

Yeah I like it, always fun having a bit of banter. You will get the odd ****wit but I've had the displeasure of sitting near ****wit Cronulla fans as well.

A few years ago at a home game there was a guy in a Sharks jersey sitting in the row behind us. A few times he yelled at the top of his voice "Gallen you useless c***" despite the fact their were quite a few young kids around. That kind of crap isn't on.

I don't mind opposition supporters sitting nearby, if and only if, they aren't too smart arsey when winning. I don't mind friendly banter but when they start putting real **** on the Sharks it makes my blood boil.

And, if the shoe was on the other foot and I was at an oppositions ground and the Sharks were flogging arse I would be respectful.Cheer, by all means, but don't be an arse about it. I've had plenty of experience with annoying Roosters supporters in particular sitting in front of us at home games, wearing leather jacket and all, who couldn't shut their smarmy mouth when scoring but left pretty abruptly when the team powered back.

Most supporters, opposition or otherwise, are pretty decent, so all in all I'm ok with them being near but I would prefer them sitting elsewhere if given a choice.

couple of years ago i was sitting in the PB with a mate playing against the titans on a sat night game. we had a few vics already into us so we were having a good time pretty noisy, id already cleaned up on the punt on FTS, there were a row of titans fans sitting 2 rows down from us, and at half time i think we were leading by about 10 points,

one of the titans fans below us i'd been heckling a bit turned around and said i bet you $100 sharks lose from here (always a good possibility lol) needless to say i took the bet, we won the game convincingly and old mate fronted up with the cash with about 10 mins togo! good sport, ran into him in the club after the game and shouted him a beer with his own money hahaha.

also found $50 on the side of the road on our pilgrimage to northies afterwards!

Dad and I sat on the family hill right near the Red V army and they just let it rip into us (the sharks), swearing and drinking (mind you on the family hill). This father with his young family shouted for them to stop swearing as there were very young kids but this drunken dragon supporter just gave him the finger and she told him to piss off. Oh yeah and the constant "we love asada" chant pissed me off.

I hate sitting with the opposition fans ever since. Hated the dragons more than ever since then to.

Agree on the swearing MS when little kids are around, I hate it.

Another time I was on the hill at Campbelltown and the cheergirls were walking around inside the perimeter of the fence. A bunch of bogan Wests fans yelled out, again at the top of their voices "hey come up here and suck my c**k." And yes, there were young kids around. Disgraceful.

I was on the hill that game too. Thats when that fat kid sat on the air pipe to the jumping castle and it started smoking and the news had stories we had fans letting off flares

I remember being in the PB stand and quite drunk yelling far worse at Lui during a cowboys game. In my defence you can drink in the PB stand and the family hill is for families, and Lui is the scum of the earth

Last years semi in Melbourne got a bit out of hand. Me and my mates managed to avoid the worst of it from the Tards.

As for the NRL, the worst fans I've encountered were Knights fans, total ferals.

Always fun sitting amongst storm fans in Sharks gear at any of their games never had or even seen anything untoward.. C whats happening sat night might even go watch em play roosters
