C'mon boys, you are setting yourselves for a fall here, don't expect us to go all the way, not this year anyway. I would love to be proven wrong but look at our roster, hand on heart stuff here, its not a great roster, forward pack wise we are up there with anyone but our backs are tradesmen like.

Yes defence wins you the big games or thats what they say, our defence is pretty good compared to most teams (fingers crossed thats gets us deep into the finals) but our attack is or has been over the course of the season ordinary.

I remember reading an article earlier this year from Johhny Lang, the jist of the article was how Cronulla have improved this year, he was quoted as saying we have always been a good team with a good forward pack but now that we have Carney we are better or more of a threat even though our backs hadn't changed over the past few years.

He then said the last couple of years when he had Souths preparing to play us he knew our backs weren't going to pose much problems to them & Souths had to match us in the forwards which would go a long way to them getting the cash.

Unless we come out in the next few weeks with a total different attacking mindset & strategy we dont have the points in us to beat the top 4 teams week after week, as we all know we can at times beat them over the course of the season but imo not come finals time.

This year we have over achieved, come 2013 my expectations of the Sharks is top 4.

Yes. Manly and warriors. Shows you have to give it it's all each and every year. Just because we look like we may hit finals this year doesn't mean we can get complacent and just expect next year god things will come. We need to really have a crack this year.

We really aren't adding that much to our backline next year though.

Don't think anyone is suggesting we shouldn't have a good crack this year. Everyone will be hoping for the same thing, no doubt about that.

Agree sort of, no disrepect to Besty but Flash offer tonnes more to our backline, J Wright will be in jersey 2,3,4 or 5, hopefully Gards is ready to go, yes we still won't have the greatest backline but I believe a better backline that will get more respect from opposition coaches than our 2012 backline.

And from opposition players. If we can hang onto Todd Carney for a few more years & the development gets approved I see a lot more high profile players heading our way!

If we can win this weekend, and next weekend, then we will have great momentum following us into finals. Bring Wado back in, and we have a genuine gun team capable of beating anyone.

We do Hitman but I dont see this squad doing it 2 games in a row when it counts let alone for 3 games, one thing I do love about our team is atleast we have a crack in most games, we just lack a bit of class.

I am happy if we make the 8 this year. Manly are hitting form and the Dogs and Storm will be hard to beat.

I would take a top 8 finish and a win in week one of the finals. Anything after that is a bonus.

i just realised something and correct me if i'm wrong.

Sharks sit in 6th on 29 points.
Behind us are Broncs, Raiders and Tigers on 26 points. None of these teams play each other in the final two rounds.
If all three of those teams win both their games and we lose both ours, we're ****in out.

Highly unlikely, but hey, we're the Sharks. This is a distinct possibility.

Still a possibility, but Friday night is Manly v Broncos AND Bulldogs v Raiders. A win to either Manly or the Dogs guarantees our spot.

A win to both makes it almost guaranteed that we play rd1 in Sydney (the only exception would be is the Tigers pass us AND make up a 131 point differential on the Cowboys - we would play in Townsville).
