I think our club should make a real bid for David Williams. Not just for his general play, which is just what we are looking for (young, fast, can score, can handle rep) but also his marketing appeal? I mean what Sharks kid is not going to love seeing the Wolfman burn it up down the sideline for a try, just like that last one against the Roosters.

IMO priority signing, anyone agree? If so write on this thread and hope someone from the club agrees.

Also, just noticed he can save tries as well, stopped Kenny-Dowell on the line.

we could get the same marketing oppurtunites if Covell grew a mustache

he is a good player yes, but wingers are never worth big money or should be priority signings....i'm happy to have him, but lets chase some other guys first

Not really, I am confindent we can bring up our own talent without shelling out overs for a guy who only excelled in a premiership wining team

The difference is Covell’s not as classy as this bloke, nor can he run length of the field.

Yeah but who is left on the market that has A. His profile B. His speed C. His ability to get across the try line regularly?

I’m sure our kids will get there but we need someone at ‘that level’ for next year, I don’t see Stapleton, Ferguson, Wright, Simmons, Covell, Goodwin, Pomeroy or anyone else you care to mention in our squad, at his current skill level.

Before you shoot it down try and think about what we’ve been lacking, genuine speed and ability to score tries. He fits the category and should be considered.

Yeah i'm with you Henchmann... i think he should be 1 of 3 priorities. We do have a backline developing well, but a touch of experience and pace wouldn't go astray ;)
Wolfman, Poore and one other...... it's a shame Michael Witt passed under the radar so easily and went to Union in NZ. I thought he had loads of attacking potential and of course great with the boot.

I think we should accept the fact that very few great players are coming out of contract at the end of the yr, and we should wait another yr or 2 until some genuine superstars are available, its no good us paying huge dollars for 70 percenters, we need one genuine gun, like my boy jarryd hayne!

I dont think Williams would be asking unacceptable $$$, and I dont see Williams as our big offseason signing? We clearly need backs with class and experience... what's the problem??

I remember reading he wanted 250 k a yr, he is currently on 50.

Thats not an excessive amount, especially considering some of the amounts we have paid for lemons.

I wasnt really suggesting there was a problem, I was just implying he is not the answer and key to our success.

Would be a great Choice at $200k. Speed passion and yeah, marketing. We should be at least be talking to him... or Robertson from there, who stuart overshadows but is also very quick, not sure of his contractual status though?

Not Poore I think he was shown up in Origin along with Weyman, Omeally would be far cheaper and is only 28 he would be good value, who ever signs Poore is going to pay way over for him

i agree

both williams and poore would be good signings, and other quality back would be good and our current backs can compete for remaining postions i think a bit of competition for starting postions in the team will bring out the best in our young players and our back line needs a little experience and speed

I am actually really liking the sounds of Covell on one side and Fergo on the other. Both great under the high ball so the opposition wont know where we are kicking. One is fast, the other reliable. I like this, hope they re-sign Covell.

So really i am hoping for a centre to partner Poms.

But that being said, would not say no to the wolfman and Fergo can just take that centre spot!

i'd either turf Covell fro Wolfman, or turf Covell for a youngster

he might be good under the high ball but there are blokes out there who can jump and run. we need a more complete package
