been told that his deal with wakefield is to get his fitness and game time up before coming back to us either next year or the year after

Could be feasible. Come 2018 we will more then likely be without Gallen and Lewis. This move probably puts a bit more coin in his pocket for the year, along with first team action and confidence. Comes back to play with his bro to see his future out on a decent contract.

The bigger issue is whether or not we have a bloody backup plan after releasing him.

If we don't sign someone and we get injuries in the forwards it is a horrible move.

Also, I wonder if we have some kind of contract in place to ensure he does come back to us? If not then it's even more bizarre.

Don't forget people, David was hardly being picked by Flanno for FG when he was available so him being overseas may not have changed much really for us. Would be handy to have him around as an option right now though for sure but it's obvious Flanno has him down the pecking order behind his beloved second row utility players

David Fifita extends English Super League stint

David Fifita has knocked back interest from NRL strugglers Newcastle to extend his stay with Wakefield in the English Super League.

The 27-year-old prop has signed a one-year contract extension for the 2017 season.

The Tongan international, who played in 13 of Trinity’s last 14 matches of the 2016 season after joining them on a short-term contract from Cronulla, has taken up the option of a second year at Belle Vue.

“I am really excited to get an extra year under my belt at Wakefield,” Fifita said.

Would've been good to get him back here.

Don't think I'd be married if my wife asked me to do this on the wedding day haha.

That has got to be one of the stupidest things I've seen & I've looked in a mirror before.
