I like him but we leaked two tries from that side. Hope Fritzy will address that.

Hmmmm
Not exactly sure you can lay blame on Atkinson for them.

But yes, hope he addresses that edge as a unit, for sure
I was not but we can’t ignore that something is not working or at last did not work tonight.

We also lost attacking options on the left.

From where I sit, he's better at not getting busted for DUI and coke with an expired licence...

With that being said, I can't see a better alternative unfortunately

Outside guy not trusting the inside guy
From My recollection, it was more that Ronnie didn’t have much faith in Iro.
Still it did look like Iro might be about to get beaten on the outside for 1 of the 2 try’s (but Ronnie still reacted regardless, leaving Ravalawa unchallenged and free to score).

Plays hard , runs and tackles hard , made one great break , certainly not overawed by first grade , I have liked him since I first seen him and could see Trindall having a battle to get back in .
Great having a bit of depth .

Weird mixed reactions to my post about Daniel looking good so far acting like I was putting him over Cam Munster or something. Guess running threats in the halves aren't everyone's thing nor appreciating solid efforts and potential.

I like Trindal and the spot should remain his pending how soon he gets back into the team but he ain't so good that he isn't replaceable down the track if he doesn't perform consistently and frankly he was doing as much bad as good as early into his first grade career as Daniel.

He’s said himself he’s a 6 and that’s his best spot. He’s just playing a simple game plan but had some nice touches. Almost set up a try for Wilton. The ball playing will come with confidence and time

Fair enough.
Good to know that he is playing NRL in a preferred position then.

We have a 7 in Trindall playing 6, being compared to Atkinson who is a 6, playing 6. Both playing with a 7 that’s suited better to 6.

IMHO a 6 is a running half, and the 7 controls the game steers the team around. Trindall as a makeshift 6 is doing well. And taking the kicking pressure off Hynes who IMHO is a 6, that struggles in the kicking department and the game control department.

If Hynes were a natural 7, there could be an argument to bring a more natural 6 such as Atkinson. But if they’re persisting with Hynes at 7, whoever they have at 6 has to be pickup where Hynes struggles.

We haven’t seen Atkinsons long kicking game, but unless he has one, we have 2 halves that struggle to get good kicks away.

I thought Atkinson was pretty good yesterday. I love how he will get the ball take it straight into the line, he seems to have a bit of mongrel in him.

I would like to see how he connect with his outside men and bring them into the game though. That left side is starved of ball, making the team predictable. With a couple more weeks of experience, hopefully they will let him play his natural game.

Decent running game but lacks real ball skills and kicking for a 5/8. And Hynes game mgmt was terrible yesterday I thought. Average kicking. No kicks in the in goal for repeat seats. Grubbers to the in goal are a great play in wet conditions. He just goes for it on every set. I fear these two will get found out in the next few weeks.

Yesterdays wet weather suited a running 6 but agree on a dry track against Melbourne or Brisbane could get found out without a ball playing 6

Grubbers to in goal are becoming less and less in NRL.

For our game plan, you need to judge Nichos game management to include turnovers within 10 out of opposition tryline.

There has been 395 short dropouts since 2023, the attacking team has retained the ball 28% of the time. So whilst forcing a dropout doesn't ensure you get the ball back like it used to, it's still worth a go every now and then I would have thought.

Risk v reward for handing over the ball 5 out and keeping the defensive pressure on I guess.

The Sharks are obviously avoiding going for forced drop outs as evident by 5th tackle change overs. I personally like it and it suits our style of wearing the opposition out then using our strong bench to come on strong.

Even Flanno said in the presser all the defence we made then do took all their petrol out of the tank for attack.

Yeah I don't disagree with that. I actually don't mind the tactic at all but would like to see us mix it up a bit to have a bit of unpredictability in our attack.

Tbh I worry a bit about our attack inside 20 metres, I'm very interested to see how we go in this area over the next month.
