Hopefully a couple of hard former forwards on the panel tonight ..

They have slipped former refs on there in recent times which is a concern ..

Isn't this tackling in the air?
Not even remotely.

The only player you can't tackle in the air is a defender receiving a kick on the full. Other than that it is fair game.
A player can't just jump whenever they want and be untouchable.

You also can't use unreasonable force or hit legs of a kicker both of which happen more often when they are in the air but I am pretty sure you can make otherwise legal contact with them in the air.

I did not know that and certainly did not think of a player just jumping in the air to be untouchable.

Why? Ref didn't penalise it neither did bunker
Because his fate will be in the hands of 3 individuals - and I would prefer it to be individuals who have a feel for the game and been in similar situations .

The opinions of the ref on field and the bunker can be used as evidence I’m sure ..

Tonight there is either going to be immense relief and raging celebrations or there is going to be a meltdown.

Maybe ,
We know there were worse done on the weekend than Dale .
Bigger picture only one extra week off against Tigers ( if he accepted charge in the first place )
BUT , like everyone else HOPING he gets off.
Personally , I'll now cop it sweet either way

Good luck to the club and Dale tonight.

I am hoping we are successful but a few things worry me.

  • Dale did fly out of the line which could be deemed careless
  • Crichton was injured pretty bad from the incident and the judiciary may feel they need to punish the action
  • And at the moment with the NRL and their processes, you just don't know which way they are going to go.
The MRC is a lottery and all lotteries require luck

I think Dale's arm swinging was a result of the initial contact. If have to watch it again though.
Yep. Crichton made a late attempt to be somewhere else and Dale sort of spun off him (his head, specifically) and his arm whipped around. Definitely want swinging into the tackle

Just as Manly will wriggle out of their mess, front with an almost full side, that then wins, it is also written by NRL scribes that Df will have his charge raised, and cop 3 weeks.

I wonder if Dale will turn up two hours early tonight and have his ears taped back!

He's probably already there jogging on the spot.

Dallas Johnson and Bob Lindner are the two former players at tribunal with Justice Geoff Bellew.
