Good spot, although the jumper and the hairline, and the fact Rogers didn't play for the Sharks in '83 suggests the picture is circa '85.

This looks like one of those "On this day.." type articles published many years later (yes, probably the mid 80s). The first paragraph gives it away. If it were an actual match report from that finals series then I don't think they would have found it necessary to tell the reader what year it was (i.e. "in 1973"). The bit about Maddison being "immediately hailed as a certain choice dor the Kangaroo tour" is another clue that it was written some time after the event.
