Cronulla Sharks in General

To my fellow sharks fans just wondering if anyone has any information on Cronulla's accounting situation as well as any recent problems with the club to do with this. this purely to do with an assignment that i am doing for accountancy at uni. any info on the development plans would be good as well. Cheers.

the club is doing ok. the football club will this year not run at a loss.

And what do we get for playing within the rules and not breaching the salary cap - ZILCH

4 out of the 5 teams that breached the cap went on to play finals footy

Parramatta the exception just underperformed

What the NRL doesn't do is weigh up the economic penalty that clubs such as the Sharks endure when other clubs CHEAT

It doesn't matter if its a small issue or a minor breach

The Sharks play by the rules and as a consequence sometimes don't compete as well as other clubs who do cheat

As a consequence sponsors magnate away from the Sharks claiming we don't have a winning culture

Its about time David GALLOP made these breaches more realistic in terms of financial penalty and compensate those teams that don't cheat by directing the funds of penalties to be distributed to those teams who don't cheat

At the moment as long as you don't cheat too much it's OK - What a farce and agenda of hypocricy

well my basic understanding is of finicial situation of the club is we have a large debt. i think 13 million, this debt was transfered to the leagues club but part of the deal with the bank with this refiniacing was that the leagues could only give the football club i think 500k per year.
our current managnment & board have cut costs considerably & the football will not lose any money this year.
currently we are going ok on finicial basis but find it hard to compete with the richer clubs, for example it has been widely reported that we had 200k available to spend this year under salary cap rules, five other clubs were fined for spending more than is allowed with the salary cap. so this over spending by other clubs & us under spending could be the difference betwen having a extra star player & have the current team.
we all know about our proposed developnment & hopefully once completed will improve our finiances & hopefully lead to a lot of sucess on the field as well.
