With a few poor games over the origin period, can we get over the origin hangover?

Hopefully flanno has ripped into the boys and fired them up for the rest of the season.

Though with jimmy rested last week, hopefully we see bird and tags rested (dropped to NSW cup) , maybe bring in ramien and Dillion (a couple of god young guns) to replace them.

Though I read an interesting article by gus Gould.. guess who he picked for the GF... could history repeat it self ?

Impossible question to answer at the moment. It's just hard to get a good read on us. At this stage it's more likely we won't, but if we finally manage to get our **** together and go on a post Origin charge, who knows.

One doesn't need be superior during the season, one must simply be superior during September.

A lesson learned from our clap silencing win in last year's finals. Everything carried from there.

Still need to be superior enough to actually make the top 4 though.

We flip between "rocks and Diamonds" to often to be serious contenders at the moment.
If we can start to be a bit more consistent with producing performances like the one against the Roosters, then back2back is very possible.

Grand finals have been reached in the past 5-6 years from outside the 4, though I agree my heart sank when I checked the ladder and saw we had slid to the bottom half of the 8.

Run home is Rabbitohs (H), Warriors (A), Raiders (H), Broncos (A), Cowboys (A), Roosters (H), Knights (A). Five from Seven gets us in the top 4. Once in the top 4 this side has shown they can perform at the business end of the year.

Throw out the Titans game. Post-bye-post-origin means very little.

The next 3 weeks against teams outside the 8 are critical. Win those 3 and we give ourselves a good chance of sitting in the top 4. Over that same 3 week period there are plenty of top 8 sides playing each other....

Yeah I noticed alot of potential Top 4 teams play each other the next few week, we play a few ourselves but these next 3 games might give us a good opportunity to leap frog them a bit.

Not from what we have seen from several bad games. Too much sideways and not enough points in us. Just can see us winning 3 finals games in a row this year Unfortunately.

I don't think any team other than Melbourne is really that much better than us. And we've seen that we can beat Melbourne when we're on.

so yes we can.

The GF.
they should beat the Dragons, Tigers, Bulldogs and Warriors.

Doesn't really make them a better chance of making the GF though. Top 4 yes, not GF.

I don't think a soft run into the finals is a help either tbh.

Agreed. IMO locking down a top 4 spot early has a much bigger impact than riding a win streak in to the finals.

But if you lose week 1 of the finals you're in the same postion as a a winning bottom 4 side anyways...

It's only the same if two Sydney teams are playing. If an out of town team is involved those scenarios can be different. Cowboys on a Sunday at the SFS is a different game than Cowboys on a Saturday night in Townsville, regardless of the situations looking identical on paper.
