They’ve really drunken the Gus coolade over in their forum

“got to wonder if Gus has talked this kid up early for a deal swap later. That’s the real value of a half academy.”

lol
I didn't really get that post.
They supposedly signed a junior just to trade him for an NRL player in the future? Gus talked him up? via a twitter post that called him 'a good one' - I'd hope our scouting would dig a bit deeper than Gus' twitter... sorry, X

Somehow a 'half academy' made a centre attractive to us?

I don't think that poster is okay.

Did you see the Bulldogs play last season?

They pretty much lost every week and some of their squad simply weren’t first grade standard.

What choice do they have but to spend the money that NRL gives them?

The only player I’d want from their signings is Crichton, but not for what they would’ve paid.
It's not why they are spending it but how they keep finding more that is the question.
Until they shake off some/most of RFMs 800k hard to see how they afford another player... they don't even have a roster spot for.
Even guys like Hutch, Salmon, Mann they have signed doubt they are on min wage as another club would beat that.

If they have something in the pipeline for RFM to go that will make it work, assuming they aren't chipping in more than half. Obviously we weren't interested, or they couldn't cover enough to then afford Tracey.

I like it

Tracey gets a run at fullback in first grade after busting his ass trying to make it, we land a good junior on the rise and our relationship between another club improves which can help in the future

They were going hard for this to happen (Cantebury)
Yep. I like CT but do we want him getting in the way of Dykes? No thanks.

Yeah that's way too much if true.
Unless it is a dude who is the next big thing you probably shouldn't have players outside your top 17 on 400k+
In saying that, when he re-signed with us I think the expectation was he was taking that left centre spot. But he was injured and Ronnie started the season there, we transitioned into Talakai and rest is history.

Given he may be their starting FB, or at least in their back 5 somewhere he is worth 500k to them. He was the same player for us, just in position to be an exceptional backup rather than starter, so the 500k wasn't necessarily good value for us.

If Miller hadn't left and Dykes hadn't been injured either are likely our #2 choice fullback in 2023 - Dogs have taken someone who was potentially our 4th choice fullback 12 months ago, so if they have done that with intention for him to play there then that is pretty wild.

Yeah I like CT when he was Mr Fixit for us. He came in and played with a lot of heart and energy.

I think the Roosters final and Bunnies final last year might be a bit of proof that after a while though he goes a bit stale. Our attack was poor that Rooster game and I think we really missed Kennedy massively. His defence that Bunnies game was dreadful (mind you he had Miller as his winger)

I think his best position is probably winger so I agree it’s a bit wild if he’s going to be there full time fullback when they have already gone out and signed Critta, Taaffe. Plus already having so many centre/wings and 5/8 options to now try fit everyone in

Don’t see anyway the warriors releasing him this year unless they are getting something to good to refuse in return.
Give them Uele since Toby is already signed

We should be signing him now for 2025, no messing around. That gives us first dibs, you would think, in getting him early next year.

We've surely cemented ourselves as the best option for him now. Only Syd based team that can afford him that isn't an underperforming basket-case.
