This is the round that was postponed due to rain a couple of weeks ago.

I've convinced myself to head out to this game but I won't be able to give live updates as my current phone is ancient.

I will be taking notes and I'll write them up when I get back home from the game.

Anyone else going?

1. Gigot - 5/10: Gigot had a game he wouldn't mind forgetting. In the first half he did some good things, but did some very bad things also. Manly snagged a try through Tony taking an air swing when trying to knock the ball dead from a grubber, he also dropped a couple of easy passes. In the second half he came out with some good kick takes and passes but all that came to a halt when he forced his way through the line and when trying to step around the fullback he slipped and hurt himself, looked groggy for about 20mins. Scored a good try in the second half and caught down the Manly winger who made a break down the sideline (granted that break was from Gigot dropping the ball).

2. Tonumaipea - 4/10: Probably our second worst out there. Tonumaipea's a weird case, whenever he did something good he would ruin it by ****ing up soon after. For example, there was a moment when he kept barging his way through defenders from a dummy half scoot, made about 30 meters and then dropped the ball cold. Also dropped a couple of easy kicks, had some good runs though.

3. Mills - 6/10: Mills was solid without doing much. Made the tackles that he needed to make and took a couple of scoots. I gotta say that he isn't playing like a guy trying to force his way into firsts. You would think with Pomeroy playing **** he would lift his game, but nope. Played a very conservative game.

4. Wright - 6/10: See Mills.

5. Moroko - 7/10: 'The Rock' played well today. Made a couple of big hits and kept bashing his way forward with hitups. Scored a good try in the second half by just barging his way over the winger and fullback. Needs to work on his positional play in regards to taking kicks (so does Gigot).

6. Manumalealii - 3/10: Penani was our worst out there. The guy would just hog the ball and drop to the ground whenever the defense touched him. He was a passenger in defense also, forcing Mills and Sopoaga to cover him in defense quite a bit. His kicks (the few he did) were ineffective. When's Finch back?

7. Townsend - 9/10: Our best out there today, however, all you Robbo haterz don't get too excited. He was out best, but he wasn't very good... If that makes sense. In the first half he played very Robson like, he would be first receiver and he would just shovel the ball onto Manumalealii or Gigotand expect them to do something. So in the first half he didn't do anything creative and his kicks found the wingers and fullbacks quite a bit. In the second half he was better, he was half and half in the terms of being creative and shoveling the ball. He forced a goal line dropout and gave a nice ball to Gigot for his try. His goal kicking was pretty good too.

8. Robinson - 7/10: Played a good game. Had strong runs and was safe in defense. He and Taufua led the way, Coates didn't get much time on the field.

9. Politoni - 6/10: Solid without being spectacular. (This ends his 'fire' streak)

10. Taufua - 7/10: See Robinson

11. Auva’a - 8/10: One of our best out there. Made some brutal hits and he seemed to make a least 10 meters with every runs. Scored a try in the second half too. (I think it was off a Gigot grubber, may have been Townsend though).

12. Sopoaga - 7/10: Was alright. Made a couple of missed tackles and had some ineffective runs but wasn't too bad. He didn't do anything that made him stand out.

13. Peachey - 6/10: Don't get the 6/10 wrong, Peachey wasn't bad... He was just really quite. Which sounds stupid because he scored a 50 meters try, but other than that Peach really didn't do much. He (like Mills and Wright) wasn't playing like a guy trying to force his way into firsts. However, maybe he was resting himself perhaps... for later in the week.

14. Coates - 5/10: Didn't get much game time and when he was on he didn't do anything special.

15. ??? - ???/???

16. Green - 5/10: See Coates

17. ??? - 1/10: I dunno what the guys name was but the reason I'm giving him 1/10 is because the guy, literally, played one and a half minuets. I think it may have been his debut because he didn't look familiar.

The Cronulla Sharks have continued their perfect start to the VB NSW Cup season with a 32-4 win over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles under lights at Leichhardt Oval last night.

A second half blitzkrieg, lead by Sharks halfback Chad Townsend and lock Tyrone Peachey, saw 20 unanswered points to the Sharks as Luke Williamson’s Manly side, at times, looked helpless to stop the bombardment they were receiving from the Shark’s attack.

The game started in the worst possible fashion for Manly when, after just 55 seconds, Chad Townsend chased a Penani Manumalealii in-field kick to soccer the ball past Clinton Gutherson and score before punters were taking their seats at Leichhardt.

Just six minutes later Peachey played provider to a barnstorming Tupou Sopoaga to slice through some suspect Manly goal line defence to take the Sharks’ tally to 12 points with Townsend’s successful conversion.
The match momentum then swung the way of the Sea Eagles and they dominated the flow of play and possession for the rest of the half.

Recent NRL debutant Peta Hiku was moved to five-eighth for this clash and Luke Williamson’s move looked like a master stroke when Hiku placed a deft grubber for Kasey Greer to get the Sea Eagles back into the match.

The Eagles peppered the Cronulla line for the rest of the half but the Cronulla defensive line held strong with the score remaining 12-4 at the break which would have been one of the most pleasing aspects for Sharks Coach Tony Herman.

Unfortunately for the Eagles it was all Cronulla in the second half as Townsend and Peachey ran riot.

The Sharks lock scored one of the best forward’s tries for a long time when he broke the Eagles up the middle, stood up NSW Under 20’s fullback Clinton Gutherson, and beat two other Manly defenders to score in the south eastern corner of Leichhardt Oval.

Daniel Moroko then made the Sea Eagles pay for a mistake from a Townsend bomb when he crashed over from close range to further extend the Sharks lead in the 52nd minute.

Two late tries in the last 10 minutes to Junior Roqica and French international Tony Gigot took the game away from the Sea Eagles and sent an ominous message to the rest of the teams in the VB NSW Cup.

The Sharks now head to Centrebet Stadium to play Windsor, while the Sea Eagles have to aim up for another tough assignment against the second-placed North Sydney Bears on Sunday.

Should point out that Auva'a was actually Juniour Roqica.

I was late and missed the team line up, last time I take advice of a guy who had a bit to drink on who a player is.
