Yeah, its more christmas spirit!

I think i will change between a stocking and a santa hat!

But definately bauble earrings as Fitz said :)

Sounds like a cracking idea CJ.

It's a wonder the club isn't selling this sort of stuff at the club shop.

The one thing I would like to see when the development is finished is a club superstore full of merchandise like other NRL clubs and other sporting clubs do.

I have seen the merchandise catalogue for the Leeds United Superstore in the UK as I am an international member of LUFC and I couldn't help but be stunned by the merchandise that Leeds has despite the fact that they have had just as bad financial trouble as we have.

penrith have their own store in the westfield and i think they have on in the leagues club as well

I have been thinking for years why we don't have one in Westfield Miranda.

It is a massive shopping centre as we all know and it would be a good opportunity to further our brand.

The leagues club store is a dingy little cabinet at the front of reception, really piss poor tbh.

Westfield Shopping Centres are notoriously expensive to rent a shop in. On top of the exorbitant rent they charge, they also take a percentage of your profit. So unless you are doing a massive trade, it is very expensive to maintain a shop in one.

That is why you see very few small, independant traders in a Westfields - and if there are any, they often don't last long. Most of the tenants are franchises of large chain stores.

As much as I woul love to see Sharks store in Miranda Fair, it will never happen as they would never do enough trade to make a profit. That is not a reflection on our Club either, no club, that I know of, can maintain a stand alone store in a Westfields.

So to the Titans! But i get what Iron is saying. But all shopping centres run things differently, rent wise, i know where i work, not all tenancies pay monthly rent, some pay out of there end of year profits, i'm sure they could find an office somewhere to put an official merchandise store into

Valid points as always Iron.

I always wonder how Souths maintain that club store in Westfield Eastgardens(that is if they still have it).

I just want to see the club selling merchandise in a reasonable size location.

I want us to graduate from the dingy cabinet we currently have in the leagues club atm.

it about the same size as say a footlocker.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I didn't think they would be able to afford that. Maybe the cost's are lower than at Miranda?
I know they had a "Footy Fever" store at Miranda for a few years that sold all Rugby League stuff, all teams - even they went broke through lack of business so I just assumed the Sharks wouldn't be able to maintain a store dedicated solely to one team.

I do know the failure rate of stores at Westfield Miranda is pretty high as the costs to run a store there are enormous. There is massive demand for shop space in there so they charge huge rents.

that dingy cabinent is probably more profitable for the club though SP.
they have truckloads of stuff under neath in the cabinents, you can get everything there as well.
for our club at the moment, its probably not feesable to move it from there as i think it would still make money, however, if/when we properly get back on our feet, then the options should be explored

i think penrith's store is able to stay afloat as the only other store that sells nrl gear in there is rebel. and they dont stock a whole lot of penrith stuff, i think they may have an arangement with the down stairs supporters shop.

and also, as you pointed out, social economics would probably mean that the rent rate is significantly lower out west than it is in the shire.

I'll be heading to the club tonight to get my membership so I'll have a look, mate.

It's a valid point, mate.

Hopefully with the good news we have received during the week, the fans will flood the club and buy up some merchandise for the new season.

No, you're absolutely right mate, I couldn't agree more. I hate that little merch counter in the Leagues Club and would love to see us in Miranda Fair, I just assumed they wouldn't be able to afford it. It woudl be great to see us in a more high profile location - I thought a small shop in Cronulla Mall might be more achievable?

Anyway, from what I understand, the merch counter is one of the things that is set to be updated in the very near future, so that is good news!:good:

What's the score in the Riff, Snowman.

I thought Panthers were going belly up due to the pokie tax.

not my place to get into that, there leagues club has thousands up thousands of gambling facilities and i would imagaine they would subsedise (sp) alot of money through the night clubs and alcohol they sell there.
plus they have a huge, profitable hotel built onto it, they own the aqua golf, kaos(video game arcade), golf course and putt putt course so they should be sweet.

that can only be a good thing iron.
for mine, it should stay in the leagues club.
again making a comparison to the penny's (tell me to shut up if you want) but they made a killing having it in there for the first couple of years.
they sold memberships and had people sign up for $5 a year for subscriptions and specials.
when they moved it to westfield penrith, a big email went out saying that the members of the store would get massive discounts on the opening day.

something i hope the club atleast looks into, as the pennies are making a pretty penny from it

Yeah like i said, not all centres run the same way, i work in a pretty large one up on the Gold Coast, and all tenancies pay there rents in different ways, some pay monthly rent, some pay out of yearly profits, some a combination of both, and i know this Centre charge a fair bit of rent. Target alone pay $137,000 p/m but was due to go up due to Myer opening last week, another shop pay $80,000 p/a. So it depends on the size and location in the centres which determine the rent prices

As for the sharks opening up an official merchandise store somewhere, i can't se why not, it doesn't have to be in a huge centre or complex, just a central location people have no problems travelling to!
