Yeah reckon I'll give those links a miss, thanks anyway.
Great game to have Chad mic'ed up for. He seems to have really embraced the leadership role there and the players seem to respond to him. Probably needed to leave the Sharks years ago for this kind of role in a team. He didn't have it here.
Interesting, a lot of in club commenters seemed to think he did, but definitely looks a refreshed man for Cows.Great game to have Chad mic'ed up for. Loved the way he spent the whole game pushing his teammates into tackles
Yeah, I never got the feeling he had that total control here. Definitely not when Gal was playing. Then he seemed to share it with SJ.Interesting, a lot of in club commenters seemed to think he did, but definitely looks a refreshed man for Cows.
Not sure what my thoughts are on his supposed 800k... still seems like way too much but at the same time they paid what they had to to get him and results seem to suggest they got it right.
Seems a perfect fit for them with a leadership gap in spine and some of their other leaders like JT13 seemingly more of a 'lead by example' type than a big talker.
Cows didn't recruit him to tackle, plays to your strengths Chad haha
If bold was true then in hindsight it appears to have been to our detriment.Yeah, I never got the feeling he had that total control here. Definitely not when Gal was playing. Then he seemed to share it with SJ.
I still don't buy this.Interesting, a lot of in club commenters seemed to think he did, but definitely looks a refreshed man for Cows.

Probably to pump Chad's tires up a bitIf bold was true then in hindsight it appears to have been to our detriment.
Gal was our captain but Townsend was always touted as the coaches voice and the one directing the team around.
But I guess now that he is captain too, and to an extent that he was brought in specifically to lead and for those qualities, you're probably right that he is better positioned than ever to deliver in those areas.
There was a 'reveal' recently of every clubs spine and their pay, that has him at 800k.I still don't buy this.
The initial figure reported was something like $650k, I reckon that's closer to the mark.
Why would a retired Mick Ennis 5 years later watching the grand final with Matt Johns and Cooper Cronk explain that it was Chad directing team not Jimmy Maloney just to pump Chad's tires up?Probably to pump Chad's tires up a bit
Yeah I know, all good. There was a 'reveal' recently of every clubs spine and their pay, that has him at 800k.
Obviously like all figure reports it is questionable and more a point of information we can discuss than a cold hard fact.
Not like the NRL has come out and confirmed it.
I agree 650k still seemed like too much, but I don't think I could argue they aren't getting their moneys worth.
And TBH if I can say they are getting their money's worth at 650k it doesn't blow my mind to think they had to play 800k to get him to uproot himself and move to North Queensland (who also sucked at the time).
If he was on ~550k already if option to stay with us was taken is an extra 100k worth it to him to uproot family and move?
For a younger player probably, for Chad maybe a bit more questionable if that is enough money to move for. Remembering he also has local business sponsorships and commercial ties (beer).
Would he move to a **** team for an extra 250 though? Yeah you gotta think he absolutely would for that much.
So I do think it is possible they are paying him that much.
My response isn't meant to invalidate your thoughts, it is just explaining mine.
Not that I know of but I also didn't think Cowboys would offer him 650-800k or that he'd actually repay them for that so I assume I'd be a bad guess at who would have been interested.Yeah I know, all good.
I still think it's highly plausible. He was on the outer with us and he has too much pride to play reggies.
Did he have many options for another club? I can't remember but I'd be surprised if he did. I get the feeling the Cows might have been his only realistic option to continue playing NRL.
I'm happy to see him doing so well up there. I never understood the outright hatred that so many 'fans' had for him.
Didn't have much of a voice with our first try in the 2016 GF...If bold was true then in hindsight it appears to have been to our detriment.

Likely a few other times in his career too I’d thinkDidn't have much of a voice with our first try in the 2016 GF...
Or run plays in the GF without telling the guy runnning the plays. Was anyone in charge over Gal? ffs he used to take hit-ups on tackle 4, 10m out from the line in origin... or throw offloads inside the 40 when up by 4 points with 2 minutes to go.
Future Grand Finals he'd have just kept pushing Chad over 'so the other team think there is a play on'Or run plays in the GF without telling the guy runnning the plays.
I mean, he did just did that once. But he wouldn't done it in every GF we made if we'd been in more.
