Jordo how do you rate Bryson Goodwin? He seems to be a bit of a pointscoring machine, do you reckon he would look out of place in firsts?

I havent seen him this year, but from all reports he is a gifted footballer, strong kid with reasonable footwork and a bit of toe, a lot like his brother Bronx, but can play in the centres

Bring back the Western Reds! I think it sucks that Perth now has a Super 14 rugby union side, but no NRL side. There is obviously a bit of homegrown talent over there, which is more than you can say about Melbourne.

unfortunately league is slowly dying over here since the demise of the western reds. i remember back when the reds were playing there were at least 9 clubs with first thru to third grade teams, and every junior age 7s-18. now we have 6 clubs with first grade teams in the major comp (ie Perth based, there are 2 or 3 other, more regional, country comps), only one of those doesnt feild a 2nd grade team. and those 5 all have 7-15s and 17s. the other ones juniors play in another, more country comp. where its dyin is after about 17 everyone stops playin, either they go to just union or they get slack. the addition of the western force (to which im a member) has really damaged league over here. but those who stick with are making a strong compeditive league, with north beach and south perth providing the strongest teams, but others arent far of the pace.

it was recently announced the Perth Reds will compete from 2008-2010 in the NSW Jim Beam Cup, and then, will compete for the next year or two in the equivalent QLD comp. following reasonable results the NRL will very seriously look at the creation of a perth based, NRL side. the team is to be coached by former Western Reds and Newcastle player Chris Dever, who used to coach first grade at North Beach. the WA reds just won the affliliated states comp for the second year in a row (ie WA, NT, SA, defence, police), which was held in perth, and had 11 players selected for the Affiliated State Team (http://www.warugbyleague.com.au/content/news/?page=3&nid=2374&oid=)
