It sounds like the board is ignoring his advice on ASADA matters and if that's Bruno Cullen, that's ignoring the advice of a very experienced CEO.

Do people understand the definition of the word "interim"?
If the ASADA issue goes away overnight, and we have a fresh faced CEO better than Cullen by 9AM tomorrow, I will apologise. If not, his "interim" job hasn't been completed.

Would you have us believe that on the day Disunity reinstates a staff member, gives assurances to another plus settlements & apologies to 2 more, against the advice of the NRL, the ARLC and the "interim" CEO he just happens to call it a day today. Hours after the panic button is pushed?

Come on Gow. You know better.

Hmm Fresh faced CEO. It will probably be Noyce. How many CEO jobs has he been dismissed from?

This is such a joke. Pretty sick of the NRL at the moment. The clubs are all a farce and the ARLC are a running joke. After watching Liverpool play in Melbourne you can just see the gulf in class with match day experience, crisis management and marketing. Even the A league has an idea.

Like most here im hardcore, im a member and always will be but FMD its getting harder and harder to support this code.

knowing my feelings on this I still just wanted to give some perspective on the Cullen situation;

does anyone actually know that Cullen "resigned" today other than the article in smh ?

could it not have been agreed at the meeting on Friday with Dave Smith, Keogh and Noyce ...

remember smh reported on Friday that they would not be re-instating anyone, looks like they got sold a dump by someone and may be looking for some revenge

Cronulla Sharks interim CEO, Bruno Cullen, has resigned from the club on Monday. Cullen's resignation comes on the same day that the Sharks reversed their decision over four sacked staffers in the wake of the ASADA investigation, offering a public apology and extending an opportunity for their return.

Fairfax Media understands that Cullen was considering finishing up his tenure at the Sharks but the process was accelerated when the directors of the club made its decision without consulting him.

Cullen was appointed by the NRL in March to run the Sharks when it was obvious it needed assistance in the wake of the ASADA investigation into an alleged supplements program at the club in 2011.

In a stunning backflip, the Sharks board announced on Monday they have overturned the decision of the previous directors following their own review of the Shire club.

Trainer Mark Noakes, doctor David Givney, football manager Darren Mooney and physiotherapist Konrad Schultz were all sacked for allegedly not informing the previous board about potential issues with the club's supplementation program.

However, Noakes has been re-hired and officials are in discussions about a potential return for Mooney.

"When elected the Sharks Board was given a clear mandate from the club members to conduct a review of previous decisions made by the Club surrounding the dismissal of four staff members," a Sharks statement said.

"That review has been conducted with a thorough assessment of circumstances surrounding termination and legal review, including information which was not before the previous Board.

"On conclusion of the review the Board has determined that the actions which we have taken in respect of these staff are in the best interests of the club and we believe we have the support of our members in doing so. The staff in question categorically deny any circumstances of wrong doing on their part or to their knowledge.

"We publicly retract statements made by the club which may have caused damage to the reputations of Dr David Givney, Konrad Schultz, Mark Noakes and Darren Mooney. We further offer a full apology to each of the four staff for any damage done to their reputations, for the effect that this process has had upon them and their families over the past three months.

"Dr Givney, Mr Schultz, Mr Noakes and Mr Mooney have provided years of loyal service to the Sharks Club and players. For operational reasons the contracted positions for club doctor and physiotherapist have been taken up and so are not presently available for the balance of this season, but each of Dr Givney and Mr Schultz are invited to reapply for these positions when they open up again. The Club has reached a settlement with Dr Givney and Mr Schultz, the terms of which are confidential. We are pleased to bring back within the club's operations trainer Mark Noakes who will commence back with the team immediately.

"Given the changes that have taken place in structure at the Club over the past 4 months we are in discussion with Mr Mooney about a possible return to the Cronulla Sharks.

"We look forward to the continued improvements being made in all aspects of the Sharks Football and Leagues Club and working with all our members to achieve success on and off the field."

In a statement released on Monday, the NRL said that although the club had obligations under its NRL licensing agreement, it had sole responsibility for its corporate governance.

"The NRL accepts the right of the Cronulla Board therefore to determine its recent action and trusts that the board has compelling reasons for reversing its earlier decision," the statement said.

For all we know, the NRL and Cullen as their proxy has been guiding the club towards a move to Perth, and this is a strong statement by the board that they aren't steering this ship.

Anything is possible and we don't know what's going on, but its amusing to see the Irvine lovers looking for any chance to have a go at the new board. (despite new sponsors, signing key players etc.)
