Bronco's Statement
:Brisbane have made the tough call to release highly regarded young talent Dane Gagai less than two months after re-signing him until 2014.

The son of former rugby league flyer Ray Gagai was given the bad news by coach Anthony Griffin on Tuesday following the latest in a string of minor disciplinary breaches.

Redcliffe coach John Dixon dropped Gagai from his Queensland Cup side a few weeks ago after he missed training.

"I told him today (Tuesday) he had a release from his contract," Broncos coach Anthony Griffin told AAP.

"His manager was also advised he was free to find another club."

Considered an exceptional talent, Gagai signed a new two-year deal with Brisbane on March 19, underlining the club's opinion of him as a possible replacement for centre Justin Hodges.

But following more disciplinary breaches the club has lost patience with the cousin of Broncos fullback Josh Hoffman and former winger Wendell Sailor.

It's understood the breaches have not been serious.

"We haven't sacked him. His contract hasn't been terminated but he's been told to find another club," Griffin told AAP.

"We've got standards and values and discipline and it would be easy to overlook them," added Griffin of Gagai, who scored four tries in six NRL games for Brisbane last year.

"But this club is about building a really good environment and culture so I've made the call.

"It wasn't an easy thing to do. He's got bucketloads of talent.

"Right at the moment we probably can't afford to lose him on the team sheet with Origin around the corner.

"The decision wasn't made in reference to his talent, it was made more to his work ethic and attention to detail.

Broncos team mates bro. Copley spilled the beans. Its in the rumour mill bro

I remember Dane never drank on weekend when all of the boys would go out to parties up in North Queensland.

I know for a fact he was annoyed that Copley was given the vacant wing spot when Yow Yeh went down, but he worked his ass off him Q Cup and has already picked up 3 man of the match performances.

The fact that it's in the rumor mill makes it even more unbelievable Jig.

I posted it in the rumour mill lol.

I know what he has achieved while he has been down there. But im telling you, He was let go due to poor behaviour, not showing up to training on time and going out on full weekend benders and not sleeping at all.

Answer me this. If your mate is so perfect why did the broncos just release him when they just resigned him 3 months ago....

Yeah hard to say he is some poster boy. Got dropped by the coach of the qld cup side for not turning up to training. Reeks of bad attitude there.

Where are the facts behind your statement?

I know Dane personally and he is not like that.

Obviously he is - or the Broncos management isn't as smart as you... But hey- you know him personally, they obviously don't.

I remember Dane never drank on weekend when all of the boys would go out to parties up in North Queensland.

So what?

I know for a fact he was annoyed that Copley was given the vacant wing spot when Yow Yeh went down, but he worked his ass off him Q Cup and has already picked up 3 man of the match performances.

Again - so what?

Answer me this. If your mate is so perfect why did the broncos just release him when they just resigned him 3 months ago....

And finally, answer this.

In answer to the OP- yes, yes, yes.

This is what having a bit of salary cap space left over and a top 25 spot (or two) is for. Sounds like the misdemeanors were small and Gagai is a quality young talent who would fit in to what we're trying to build nicely.

Go for it Flano.

Don't really care to be honest. I wouldn't give him a spot immediately- he'd have to earn it with good form and a good attitude- but I'd expect he'd get a look in sooner rather than later this year. Probably on the left wing, as Stapo has played more of his footy on the right wing.

Anyway, Mills has done his hammy and will need time to get it right. I reckon he's been playing injured all year because Stapo and Gordon have been out and we don't have any depth in the outside backs.

Longer term, I see Mills as a right centre. Williams probably isn't quite a first choice winger- good depth, but not one of your best 17. Gagai could easily be one.

He'd also be a decent fullback option with Gards out. Much quicker than Wright.

I think yes, without knowing too much of the situation.

Doesn't seem like he has done anything toooo bad, hopefully it is a wake-up call for him.

Even though he has been released for disciplinary breaches, I still don't think he'll come cheap. I reckon there'll be a bit of competition.

We have the cap space, so we should be able to put in a really competitive offer, you'd think.
