Wow , that's pretty darn impressive when you add that to what he did in attack .
Crisp service and running game .
Best on field that day.

He missed 3 tackles according to the stats but still a very good performance defensively. Hopefully when McInnes plays more minutes he can share that work load a bit.

… but doesn’t kick enough and is soft when he stops in the line.
He did have great games rnds 1 and 2.
He has a decent kick and has a 40/20 or 2 in previous years out of dummy half for memory so why not utilise that a bit more often.
Not suggesting that he be a dominant kicker, but maybe a couple each half as a variation to our game.
Another benefit would be that our chases should be onside when kicking from dummy half (generally).

I'm sure people questioned the length of Braileys contract extension but obvisously fitzy seen enough in the preseason

I dare say his kicking game will come into play, fitzy probably has a plan with the player he is moulding Brailey into and you can already seen the much improvement in his running game

Baby steps

Yeah must admit I thought it was too long. Shows what a decent coach can do.

Yeah I think most people did including me

Maybe future captain material but seems to nice of a kid for that at the moment
Definitely seems too nice at the moment. Needs to rip someone's stitches out before he convinces me he's a captain.

This isn't very informative but...
Only a tiny snap shot of him very early in his career but he was amongst Sharks players who attended a meet and greet (and also Storm players) in Perth before NRL 9s - have mentioned comments around this a few times but not specifically Blayke - and I am starved for player interaction so I don't have much else haha

Blayke spent basically the whole time throwing a ball around with the kids. All our players started off doing that, then went to signing booth, then other players (Ronnie, Tracey, Billy M) went around mingling with people (Ronnie mostly got tied up with media) but Blayke went back to the kids.
If not someone who will mature into a captain at least someone who will help keep the club popular!

Storm players did the first kid bit because they had to, then did signing then all went and stood away from everyone except Nicho who went back to the kids for a little bit and then mingled around once Sharks players arrived and joined kids (was meant to be a joint thing but Sharks plane was late so was more like a Storm thing then a Sharks thing).

I had a good chat with Tracey - he was just happy someone there knew who he was as he sat at the signing booth either being skipped or saying "I'm new" when people said "I'm sorry I don't know who you are" haha

He's not stopping this year
Yes he is. He darts and then looks for support. E.g. BHU near-try.

You don’t think he should be utilising that kicking game he has?
I think he should, but he doesn't have to for him to be a big factor in a game. People in this thread were ready to move on from him over the off-season because he doesn't kick and/or is "soft". I think people are finally realising that you can be good without being a scoot-merchant.

He has good running and good kicking so it sucks not too see them but he still typically played well, there are a lot of weeks I didn't give him votes but had him in our top 5 or 6 players. Regardless of kicking I really liked his game this week and gave him my 3, checking back he has been very popular. (How many more watch throughs until you get your votes in Burg?)

I didn't have an issue with his running and looking for a pass last year, for me the solution was better support not that he should be slamming his 60kg body into a 115kg prop and being crushed into a slow PTB. His cheeky 10m dart isn't much value then, better he just go 8m and try and find a runner.

Haven't re-watched any of it yet (have been too busy worrying about my own team; lost both my halves for 4+ weeks with injury). Will pop my votes in tonight I think. There were a lot of good performances to choose from. Brailey is in the mix. I thought Ramien was great other than the bonehead play to drag a bloke across the sideline.

I agree Ramien was very strong, in the context of game and context of last week I held the screw up against him in votes, but as a stand alone incident what he actually did wasn't that bad and I think was more smarts by Gutho than anything

he's always given good service from dummy half and made a bunch of tackles it's actually the improvement in his running game and it's effectiveness that has made him a standout for me. he's doing more of it and making metres or earning penalties regardless of if he has support with him

teams have to be so wary of him and that threat of him running can make his passing more dangerous as it may hold up defenders or cause a misread

I think his discipline is slightly better as well. the kicking can be kept in the bag for the time being if this is the level of performance we can get from him every week

and this is from a poster who has bagged Brailz for 12 months +
my whip has had to be reholstered and locate new prime targets

he has come out firing this season under Fitz

last year the sharks forward pack was consistently rolled.

This year that hasn’t happened and Brailey is getting to attack retreating lines….

My take anyway!
