That’s my concern as well. Our depth at hooker is very thread bare even if Lichaa comes across. I’d like us to get Seggy back if we could to play off the bench for a season to help Blayke adjust to first grade.

he has the fitness to do it, and the game he has done it this year there is no reason to doubt it

you dont plan a season on what ifs though but i have no doubt a back up hooker will be purchased

Jayden was playing 80 mins per game, for the entire season, in 2017?
You have to for a critical position like 9 when there's literally no one else behind a 21 year old who has played barely any NRL.
NRL is way different to NSW Cup - he has done it once this year and only 3 other games did he play 40mins +
Jayden got a lot of help in both 2017 and 2018 where we extensively used bench hookers.
I very much want us to have one good reliable back up for each position, at the moment we have nothing for hooker behind Blayke.
Why even have a squad of 30 if there is no point planning for what if. I expect someone to be bought but how reliable they will be remains to be seen if we can't afford above minimum wage.

9 full games, 5 more over 70, 9 at 60 or more.

played 70 minutes for over half the season - 4 of his games with 60 minutes have been hia's and he has been sin binned in one

From round 14 onward he has only played 80 twice (3 more at 70+)
Quite likely some degree of fatigue is a factor in that. Also just because Reed can do it doesn't mean every other upcoming hooker can.
I'm pretty comfortable Blayke can punch out 65+ every game (and 80 when needed), with Billy Mags maybe doing 10-15 minutes most games to give Blayke a quick spell.
But if Brails goes down we don't want Billy starting and Trindall (agree being groomed as a utility) can maybe fill in with some help from Billy for a couple games but I think if we needed a replacement for a few weeks or more that combo wouldn't be good enough.
Could either get an experienced long minute player like Lichaa and play him in Jets with Blayke and Billy in NRL, or could get a Luke or Seg type for a bench role to work with Blayke instead of Billy - they could get 20-30 mins and really take some workload off Blayke week to week.

Still I won't expect every hooker who enters the NRL to play 80 minutes a game because Reed did... or almost did...
He does a lot of work, he is a fairly impressive young hooker not arguing that at all.
I also agree that Blayke probably can punch out similar efforts, I just don't think it is what would be best necessarily, especially as we haven't seen it yet.

in fact, if you go from round 19 onwards and check out parras bench they are carrying 4 forwards
