Hopefully sees a little more game time as the year goes on.

The little short side raid he pulled when he took a scoot and fired a cut out to Katoa into space was incredible. Even though it didn't turn out it just shows his vision is awesome at such an early stage of his career.

He's definitely going to have bigger upside than Jayden.

IMO he's been better after 8 games than Jayden was. Whether it was restrictions that Flanno placed on Jayden that Morris hasn't I don't know, but I do know he looks far more threatening at hooker than his brother does now after 50 games.

I'm certain Jayden is an NRL-quality hooker. At the end of the day it depends on what you from your 9.

If you want a defensive workhorse who'll always provide quick, crisp ball to your halves, Jayden is your man.

If you want a ballplayer with the vision to spot an opportunity and set up a try, you want Blayke.

For those reasons Blayke will be the more valuable of the two, but Jayden can still make a big contribution to a team with dominant/classy halves ala Jake Friend.

Blayke after 8 games is waaayyyy better than Jayden after 8 games. They are basically neck and neck now and Jayden has a two season leg up.

It was around early when Jayden came in as our starting hooker, following no previous intro to first grade, that they wanted him just passing the ball and making the tackles and would add other elements to his game as time went on.
Remember he was in a side just coming off a GF and replacing Mick Ennis which would have carried a lot of pressure too.

So he started with the instruction not to run or kick and then they brought in Seg to be the dynamic hooker option so he likely would have been comfortable just to keep doing what he was doing and let Seg do his thing.
Now instead of (perhaps) seeing Seg as a different style of player he has his brother as the backup so he thinks, 'if Blayke is gunna run I can run too'.

Blayke has the advantage of not coming in as the 80 minute starting hooker, less pressure on him because he has seen big bro do it so knows he can too, and has reportedly always been ahead of where Jayden was at the same age.

If Blayke can improve as much as Jayden has over the next couple of seasons he will be a hell of a player.

I agree mostly.
It's a bit of a harsh call to compare Blaykes contributions after 8 rounds to what Jayden provided at the same time. As you pointed out, their roles would have been much different.

With Bomber giving both of them a bit of freedom we can compare a bit more accurately. They both look like they have a good running game but maybe BB provides us with a few more options then JB in attack.

Don't get me wrong, I still think JB is a good 9 and will get better, but I think there is more upside to BB in the long term based on what we have seen so far. BB will be the overall better of the 2 provided his development doesn't Plataeu or doesn't get ahead of himself.

Jayden looks like he's running backwards when he's running.

Blayke actually looks like he has speed and footwork.

I’ve been harsh on JB for the right reasons in the past.. but this year looks like it will be his best by far.

The pressure from Blayke and vice versa should only be a good thing for us

There's been a bit of discussion in here recently on whether Uele makes our bench at full strength.

Do we need Blayke on the bench? How many minutes is he playing per game? 15-20?

Would he better off from a development perspective playing more game time in the reggies?

Can Jayden play 80?

Uele is a must for the bench so just trying to figure out how it can be achieved.

Yep. For this year for the most part (can change it up) we have too many big, versatile lads to squeeze onto the bench. If JBrail can do 80 with Moylan and SJ we shouldn't need some spark outta dummy half.

That's what I think.

Can you imagine having Woods, Uele, Williams and Boogs/Capewell on the bench? That's relentless, sets a great platform for our creative players.

If your playmakers can't create behind that, sack em.

Was thinking the same thing. Think he’d be better suited to play 60+ minutes a week in Reggie’s once woods is back.

Although I agree we don't 'need' that attack from the bench, keep in mind that last bench position generally plays low minutes.

To me it's either B Brailey or Capewell on the bench and in both cases we're talking 20 minutes and injury cover (max).

Don't forget, when we have the team more stacked there will be more competition for minutes. Graham is gunna want 80 and should get it when fit. Nikora plays 80. It's not like we need the 4th spot to cover those forward minutes. It's contingency or x-factor really.

We also have less interchanges than we did back in the day when you'd have forwards doing smaller stints.

Jets signing Garvey was a good indicator to me that Blayke is not going back to the Jets anytime soon. Garvey may not have had other NRL offers but he would have been in demand for NSW Cup, and will joined expecting to play 60+ minutes.
