Name me one hooker who can dominate consistently behind a pack that get dominated by the better team

How would have cam smith been if he played his career as a Tigers
Smith won a comp with bryan norrie and jamaine lowe

Because he got them on the front foot and didnt hide like a bitch

I can't see many hookers looking good playing under the conditions that Blayke is.

Lucky to have him IMO.
Reed Mahoney did it last year with Parra which earned him the big upgrade.. they were a team who finished worse then us

Robson does it consistently with a similar performing team

Starling does it for the raiders with a similar performing team

Wayde Egan is doing it this year with a team that’s on par well was on par with ours

Josh Lyttle shines for the dragons

Lachlan Crocker is doing it this year with a up and down Manly team

There are plenty of examples - No dummy half is always going to get it his way

Raiders, NZ, Cowboys and Parra 2022 are all sides with good packs that are consistently winning the middle. No surprise their hookers look better.

Reed looks half the player behind a beaten pack.

Robson looked half the player to start the year behind a pack that was struggling with injuries to their key middles.

Raiders do NOT win the middle all the time they are very up and down - they have an immense pack but they are flakey

NZ have had a very similar season to us

Cowboys also

We were a better team then Parra in 22

The question was who plays well behind beaten packs and when all those packs do get beaten their 9’s would still often post up good performances regardless of how their team performs that day

Don’t get too caught up ; the point is a 9 doesn’t have to have everything go their way to make an impact

I'm not arguing the bold, I agree, but I disagree with your examples.

I don't think Starling, Robson, Reed nor Egan are that great when they aren't winning the ruck and things aren't going their way. And I think it shows in their good/bad games.

I think there's 3 hookers in the game that I'd say turn the tide for their team when the chips are against them. Grant, Cook and Api.

Braileys not in the elite class for sure so let’s not even go there

He’s in the class or just below the class of the above - I rate those players more then Brailey at the moment because of those moments that they do have/have shown when their teams on the back foot which changes their teams momentum

Agree to disagree 🙏🏽

You're not just talking the best hookers here, you're talking some of the best players in the game.

You could substitute the exact same rationale to just about every position on the field. My point being that great players change games from any position, and there aren't many. Walker, Munster, Latrell, Dafita, Cobbo...

To say Brailey isn't good enough because he's not one of the top 5% of NRL players is just being greedy.

Your not saying that's what you're saying mate, just piggybacking your comment
