Rooster Jack becomes a shark
16th November 2005
By GREG WHITE

OUTSTANDING Nambucca Heads footballer Jack Lhuede has swapped his Roosters jumper for one with a Sharks logo after signing with Cronulla.

Lhuede joins the Sharks' summer training squad this month to prepare for the Jersey Flegg competition in 2006 and says consistency is the reason he came to notice.

"Winning the Under-18 grand final also helped," Lhuede said.

"There were also some first grade matches that put some polish on my game."

His Nambucca coach Anthony Field played a key role in getting him a shot at the big time and says not many appreciate how much work Lhuede did to get his break.

"Beside seven top-grade appearances and numerous starts off the bench, he played 14 of the 18 games at the junior level so there's no wonder he shared the Group 2 best and fairest award.

"A bad shoulder injury could have kept him out of the last two games but he stuck with it. All up that's a big ask but will be expected when he moves to the next level."

Field has no qualms about Lhuede being successful.

"He has the right attitude towards football and a strong work ethic," he agreed.

"It gives him a walk-up start when he makes the shift to Sydney
