AFL's leading goalkicker Lance Franklin and NRL superstar Greg Inglis headline the sports nominations for the 2008 Deadly Awards.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander awards recognise excellence among indigenous sports people, artists and educators.
Franklin, who has booted 91 goals this season, is joined by Shaun Burgoyne, dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes and David Wirrpanda as nominees for the most outstanding achievement in AFL award.
Melbourne Storm five-eighth Inglis, widely regarded as the best player in the NRL, lines up alongside Greg Bird, Scott Prince and Sam Thaiday.
"All the other guys that have been nominated, you can sort of sit back and say there's no way I'm going to win this,'' Inglis said.
In other categories, the first indigenous field athlete to represent Australia at the Olympics, Benn Harradine, has earned his first ever Deadly nomination, for male sportsperson of the year.
