Fair enough, but Im curious as to why a club gaining a sponsor is news worthy and worth all the hoo ha... Canberra got there sponsor, i didnt hear anything about it, same with the other 14 clubs

By way of comparison, Canberra announced their sponsor on the lawns of Parliament House. The photo was splashed across the front page of the Canberra Times. There is nothing newsworthy necessarily, but the right photo op on a slow enough news day will give free publicity to the sponsor.

Sponsors are provided with estimates of the commercial value of their exposure. Front page of the Leader is good, Back Page of the Tele is great, lead story on the Sunday night 9 news is amazing.

This is why donors present oversized cardboard cheques, politicians don hard hats, charities adopt celebrities; the better the photo the more likely it will run
