I think we showed with Carney that a 'be a man and control your ****, do your job you're highly paid to do' clause works better than a booze ban enforced on an individual.

If the whole squad committed to a self-imposed booze ban for the season I wouldn't be unhappy though.

What about Carney taking a leak in his mouth......pretty sure he would have been under the influence, not to mention there was a lot of talk about him 'supposedly' being a bit loose throughout this season...

**** I'd hope he was under the influence.

I think its no coincidence Carney going off the rails in 2014. Flanno seemed to have tapped into what made Todd tick and his suspension, along with all the other **** this season gone handed our way he slipped back to a support network of boozing and partying.

If the sharks had a dietitian she could have kept him on a strict diet of asparagus, would have soon sorted out that nasty habit

"The cash-strapped Sharks can’t afford to buy out the remaining two years of Barba’s Brisbane deal and are banking on a Broncos subsidy to formalise his transfer."

This is a quote from zerotackle. How are we cash strapped? We should have a lot of cap space I would have thought.

They can call us "cash strappedTM" but the truth is, we are doing good business when this **** comes off. How often can you get a competitor to pay for one of your most valuable employees?

I can only guess its something do to with his previous membership of the Epic Bender Crew. Seems silly to me though, if he is going to go back to that way of life it won't matter where he lives and he's obviously not got his **** together.

If you're serious about epic benders, the shire isn't the best base anyway...

He didn't actually take a "leak in his mouth".
They were just being stupid for a photo.

People often say this but it really is the case this time: he'll earn that back in promotional power. I don't think there's a player in the game as marketable to kids. He's Benji Mk 2.

Haha. Yep. Great with kids. That's why he got that job with the Roosters. Proven role model.

I'm opposed to signing Barba if it excludes us from signing a genuine halfback for 3 years, because by 2016 we'll have 800+ tied up in Barba. But if Gal retires end 2015 then I guess we're back in the game financially?

He is nowhere near worth 800k. i hope the club isn't that stupid to pay that. 400k for the first year yes but second and third year we should be paying no more than 500k out of our own cap.

he is worth that to us, as we will generate that income back off of him

Not sure whether Gumby is talking about what Barba is worth under cap space or just club expenditure. You could regard them as separate things in a way.

I agree with you though, he'll give us a huge return through the gates, merchandise etc

I actually think he's worth the salary cap space as well. Without him we won't be much of a challenge to the opposition.
