I reckon it needs to be called like the 9s NRL showcase or something where each team sends 20 players, 10 players from the 1sts squad and 10 from the 20s. It gives good opportunities for youngsters to show the world what they have, and its not a huge strain on the 1st grade squads.

We sent over a very good squad last year, who knows where we finished if Carney didnt get injured, Gallen was a waste of a spot because to me it was evident he wasnt going to see out the tournament anyway. But still, we sent probably 1 of the best squads over and we didnt win, we picked up a short term injury to Todd, Gal sent home and Stapo came home looking like a dick head for knocking on a quick tap.

Personally, I'd like to see the whole thing dumped and have a preseason knock out that all clubs took seriously. Then the only need for trials would be if you got knocked out early.

I'm not a fan of the 9s concept but considering we have a number of players who should excel in that format I would really like to see them go with a view to winning the whole thing.

Yeah I couldn't give a rat's about the 9's. As someone said it's a bit of fun but I don't care who wins it. Personally I wouldn't care if we didn't take any of our key players.

Well not possible seeing as we have to, but I understand the sentiment.

Only reason Gal went last year was because him and Todd were basically used to promote the hell out of it.

No real surprise he won't be going this year. Boxing or no boxing.

I think we will send a competitive side again and I think we should. Showcase as much of the new talent as possible, get some confidence up. Win ****n something.

Gotta pay that ASADA debt somehow.

Anyone remember what the rules are on 9s rosters? I know sides are obligated to send a certain amount of star power.

I would love to win the nines, it would be great to finally see the Sharks win something even if it is only a piss ant comp.

The 16 clubs are contractually obliged to include 12 of their top 25 players, and one of the top five earners in their squads.

Top 5 earners for us probably Fifita, Gallen, Graham, Lewis and Barba. So if that 5 is right you'd reckon it'll be between Graham and Barba.

I agree, but im sure the memes would be flowing if we did win the 9s before a premiership

Yeah I'd do the same.

Just thought that might give us a better idea on whether Barba would be playing. If Graham was to get scratched from the 9s we'd be obligated to send Barba (assuming my guess of top 5 earners is correct).

Well Lewis would be wasted there IMO, Gallen Fifita out, So yeah the other 2 left its either both of them go, or just 1. Id take both. If nothing else, Wade had some good inside off loads in 2014, but sadly most of the time they put Robbo into space (although he did put fifita into space who put taga over), if we can get Barba running into an offload like that in the 9s....try
