Imagine for a second.....If we had our own magnate (like my English soccer team) and we were able to put him up against Newcastle and Tinkler.

Imagine what we could do.

Imagine who we could buy.

Imagine the **** that we could throw back at the media and all other suppoters who have bagged up over the past few years.

Ok, Ive woken up now !!

QPR SET FOR INDIAN SUMMER
INDIAN billionaire Lakshmi Mittal will table a buyout bid for QPR tomorrow that could spark a multi-million pound war with Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Steel magnate Mittal, who has a fortune of more than £17billion, is prepared to put his money where his mouth is to pip City’s oil-rich owner Sheikh Mansour for football’s richest prize. Mittal’s son-in-law Amit Bhatia, who also has a stake in the Premier League new boys, warned that his father-in-law will spend “what it takes” to see his club crowned champions.

Mittal, who wants to buy out F1 tycoons Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone, has already promised manager Neil Warnock a preliminary £50million warchest. The tycoon has been waiting in the wings since he acquired a 20 per cent stake.

Imagine if our Rugby League club was a genuine club that you could be a part of. Not some product that a rich man is selling. Not just a uniform and some colours but a community club.

Oh, it already is.

PMQ: No one will ever invest money in our club let alone buy it.

Mark: Get with the times. This is a dog eat dog world and community clubs trying to compete in the professional world will be eaten alive. If a Tinkler came along to our club we’d jump at it.

Take it easy :take that

I started the thread to plant the seed of wondering what it would be like.

Mark just stated what most of us (including me) hold close to our heart and that is community/member club !!

PS I personnally think we'd be a great investment.

There are more than one facets to a team. If you have to kill one of the most important facets to ensure that the uniform and name survive, that's better than total death but it still needs to be seen as a partial death.

I'm with you Mark, but if, as PMQ says, some Arabian, Indian, Sri Lankan, or whatever, billionaire came along and said he's always followed the Sharks since whenever, and wants to buy the club & promises to buy the best players, and give them the best facilities, and make the stadium the best in the NRL, do you think he would not get the required votes to achieve the take-over?..not that i'm saying that's right, or we all feel good about it, but what would the members vote for for??

Alright there are obvious advantages a billionaire owner will bring - improved facilities, best coaches/trainers/doctors/other personnel, new advertising opportunities and media interest (see Crowe). However, the salary cap will stop the club benefiting as much as rich EPL clubs, so it really isn't the end of the world.

But yes imagine....
