Well now it is official!

Sharks today appointed club legend Barry Russell as the new CEO of Football.

What do you think of this appointment?

It's hard to know what to make of Barry's appointment but welcome aboard anyway.

It was writen somewhere they had a dozen highly qualified candidates so we can only hope that the board made the right decision I guess. Says he was NRL's commercial sponsorship manager and a sales manager for Harvey Norman, strange resume for a CEO.

Sponsorship manager is good experience.

Has obvious footy experience.

Those are the upsides.

Will remain open minded.

Maybe he can use his Harvey Norman contacts to get us sponsorships from companies like LG or Hisense.

Just spitballing here

Is he better suited to the job than Gidley was for the Knights?

At least he'll have a genuine Sharks heart.

I get your point, especially if that article was correct and it was between him and Brian Waldron MkII.

But I ****in love the Sharkies too... I wouldn't advise appointing me CEO.

Barry seems to be experienced and successful in what he's done in the business world no doubt but as someone else said its a strange CV for a CEO position.

With the splitting of the roles though and no longer having a group CEO I'm not sure what Barry's job description is so maybe what he'll be in charge of is right up his ally.

Nothin' I can do but wish him the best.
