So what did Flano say re:Sharks? Anything interesting?

Sorry AB, should have written the key points out while it was fresh in my mind.

Some things I remember.

1 - Praise of Graham and Townsend
2 - Kelly is a good kid who messed up and they're going to look after him.
3 - David Peachey is an off-field mentor of Kelly
4 - Tyrone Peachey is an attacking machine and is in the full time squad for next year. He wants Tyrone to put on some weight and joked that maybe George Rose could help him with that.
5 - He was giving it to George Rose all night. He coached him in 2005 at the Roosters in some junior grade.
6 - He mentioned that the difference between coaching an NRL side and a junior side is that with his junior sides for example at the Roosters he had a team full of star players and didn't have to do much, where as now it's different, but then sort of realised that sounded a bit wrong so covered it up a bit.
7 - Said he's not thinking at all about next year yet. Seems to take things one week at a time, or is holding his cards to his chest.
8 - When asked about his game plan against the Raiders he immediately shut down as if someone asked him the recipe for his mum's special sauce or something haha.
9 - Again mentioned that they'd been focusing only on defense, so it's weird that the attack has been good. You may remember that he said the same thing after the big Panthers win. I think he's being a bit sly though personally, no way do those attacking structures just come out of no where. We have some talent, but not that much talent.
10 - Gave lots of praise to how confident the kids are when they make grade, how they'll be vocal and organise players much older and more experience than them. Total lack of shyness. I got the impression he was talking about Townsend and Graham.
11 - Said that AK is training but he made out the doctors may or may not give him a pass, and said he's a week away.
12 - Said that Snowden's injury was a neck injury and after that it's been his lower back lately but he seems to be over it, but hasn't trained. I got the impression he'd be fine to play this Monday but probably wouldn't be match fit, so I guess it's a call between a match fit Cordoba or a not match fit Snowden. Personally I think Snowden would be more match fit than Cordoba even in those circumstances.

It was a great appearance. He was on there a lot and talked about general NRL as well but I can't really remember much of that. What I liked was he was calm, came off as a real nice guy, while also sounding really knowledgeable. He seems like the kind of guy that can earn respect without having to yell at people. He's intimidating without having to try to be I guess? He also had a good sense of humour at appropriate times, mainly giving crap to Rose about being fat and unfit without ever being mean about it.

I couldn't agree more.

Flanagan on that show was amazing. There was no rehearsed high-strung bull****. It was all so natural and he really opened up. His sly burns on George Rose were epic too, had me in stitches. It was really good to watch. I love that show, they don't just harp on with their own opinions constantly. They're relaxed and cover a broad range of topics while rarely being sensational, even when they probably have the right to be.

To be honest, it's a glowing endorsement of Indigenous Rugby League, and as a white man I'm envious of the poise these guys have.

Then you put the footy show on and the stark difference is amazing. There was a point when Rabbits wanted to talk about what an NRL draft would entail, and fatty basically told him to shut up because it was a boring topic. Seriously? Better get back to the same old cardboard interviews and product placements. Not to mention the fart jokes. Sickening stuff.

The Footy Show sums up everything I hate about Channel 9 and their involvement in Rugby League. It's plastic, hollow, devoid of any merit. These guys who make the Barefoot show probably do it on a shoe string budget and they do such a better job.

I just wish NITV was a free to air terrestrial channel. I wish it was broadcast in place of one of the useless channels that currently exist. It's such a shame it isn't.

Agreed, and rep'd.

But it is difficult for Fatty - i'm sure he wants to spend the whole 90 mins talking about league - but I imagine his Ch 9 bosses are forcing him to host a more 'middle of the road' mainstream sport based variety show.

I don't know man, I used to think that but he was a real wanker about it last night.

He said something like "Please, my eyes are glazing over. No one wants to hear about an NRL draft, that's boring". Real sarcastic.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed that whenever the Sharks come up, Fatty and when he was on the panel, Andrew Voss, take any cheap shots they can against the Sharks. A clear bias against the Sharkies by those two knobs.

Why bother, Turn it off,

I have picked up on that, he seems like an ******** to me. Just look at how he treats mario. I thought to myself while watching it last night that rabs would be a great host for that show. My ideal panel would be:
host- rabs/sterlo
brohman, fittler/johns and benji.

In defence of Fatty I thought Warren was drifting off into the never-never when the direct issue at hand was the upheaval at the Tigers. Rab's has an intelligent footy brain but he does tend to be long winded without getting to the point quickly enough much like Sticky.

No disrerspect, but seriously, the footy show has to be the most itellectually sapping, dribble ridden, unfunny excuse for a football show, ever to disgrace the TV screens of Australia. It is an embarrassment to Rugby League. The hosts come accross as self serving drongo's, who find their often childish comments and behvior amusing. Ryan gets away with murder with his characters that only endeavour to offend minorities.

The show needs axing and replaced with a genuine rugby league focussed show that takes a serious look into the game, the clubs and the players.

Oh, while I am at it...Vossy, what you may have missed. I miss your numb nutted ridiculous dribble every week and it is great!

End of rant

I still think Vossy is the best commentator channel 9 has.

Is that a positive jigsaw? Or does it accurately reflect how garbage they all are?

I must add. Respect to Rabs. He is the best on the call team, just get that garbage guts Gould out of the box and leave Rabs to it. Gus drags Rabs into such rubbish comments and banter. Call the ****in game!

The game suffers from a lack of knowledgeable opinion makers. The two most interesting are Gus and the Wok both of whom are former coaches. That would change greatly if fellows like Murray, Anderson, Hagan, Elliott etc (Freddy doesn't count) were given the opportunity to opine.

I have a mild interest in the AFL and their media culture poops on ours. Their's no mushiness with the clubs or players. The players have opinions and express them (maybe only Ennis and to a lesser extent Hindmarsh do that here) and the analysis is thorough. Watch the One Week at Time AFL version half-an-hour after the NRL one if you want the perfect example of what I mean.

Agree with the Gus/Rabs comment too. Very true.
