Banners for the new recruits

It's time to think of some banner ideas for the match day. Might be good to get some banners for the new guys to make them feel welcomed by the fans.

Heres two that I thought of...

Anyone got any ideas?

You might also look here for some bad banner ideas.

Those 'believe' posters would look great held up at games actually.

They look good, but the actual players may see their own face with 'believe' written on it and it may pump them up and let them know we specifically believe in each individual.

Thats what I'm talking about! Great idea! How much would it cost to get these banners printed up? Say about six foot by four foot or so?

Mate, they are just three colours. Could make them up yourself pretty easily. Otherwise just see if you can strike a deal with a printer in the shire. I know one that's a mad Sharks fan and probably has more dosh than you hidden in his proverbial chicken coop...

I think a giant pull over banner could really work well for the CSSC.

A big old school shark would look awesome and could be pulled over the CSSC when the players run out.

Also, check this out:

Something like this with the cards to hold up could be done for sure, but on a smaller and simpler scale. I know our stadium isn't as big, but we could still do it and make it look classy.

Would be best to save for an important game though.:good:

I'm not sure. I think they are usually just home made, but I don't know how you'd do it.

I don't think they must be all that expensive because Sydney FC have different ones all the time.

The Cove do the Tifo's themselves and some of the ones they do are brilliant

I wonder how they do them, they are massive! Where do you get the material from for something like that (besides Goulds undies!)

I had a look at these. They are the lame banners I was talking about. I want some of those professionally made jobs that you see. Penrith had an excellent one that I mentioned earlier.

Snapper, have you got any pictures of that banner the Panthers crowd had, or ones like it.

Bundy, I know this was about crowds and how to increase them but I think these banners could really help create an atmosphere and excitement and that might attract more people to come back again.

It certainly looks good on the TV when you see these big banners flying and those big pullover ones look like great fun. People might see that and think, "Hey, I'd like to be a part of that!"

Well in slide, I actually thought a huge banner like that would work well for the BELEIVE campaign but never raised it believing it to be too expensive.

i dont believe it costs that must for the cove to do one tifo [i could be wrong]

the Cove have there own bank account for fans to help contribute to the costs of making the Tifo's

just a matter of putting in the hours to make it, if you are artistic enough..

Can someone explain the term 'tifo' to me please?

Tifo, originally the Italian word for the phenomenon of supporting a sport team, is mostly used as a name for any spectacular choreography displayed by supporters on the terraces of an arena or stadium in connection with a sport event, mostly an association football match.

Tifos are most commonly seen in important matches, local derbies and rivalries and although the tradition originated at club teams, some national teams also have fans that organize tifos on a regular basis.[1] Tifos are primarily arranged by Ultras or a supporter club to show their love to the club, but are sometimes sponsored or arranged by the club itself.

History

The tifo culture, like the origin of its name, has its roots in Italy and Southern Europe, and has a strong presence in Eastern Europe. It has much in common with the Ultras culture and appeared at the same time, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the first ultras group of Italy was founded, the Fossa dei Leoni (Milan). It has spread since and has taken over as the dominating football culture in Europe.
Tifos can now be seen in most parts of Europe. Still, the Italian tifos are dominating[citation needed], with supporter groupings having a better economy and larger fanbase. Not surprisingly, North America and Japan have also witnessed the Tifo culture rise.

Materials

Materials used to create tifos include:

  • sheets of plastic or paper forming a pattern, like a sort of mosaic
  • large flags and banners
  • huge painted blankets (usually in the shape of a team jersey or flag)
  • two-stick flags
  • confetti
  • balloons
  • paper rolls
  • flares (bengal fires) and other fireworks
  • large dolls and mascots
  • scarves
The tifo is often displayed for only a few minutes, often when the teams enter the pitch or at the start of the match. Planning a tifo can range large ones from taking several weeks, and several days before the match to prepare, costing large sums of money, to smaller tifos where the supporters hold up their scarves at a certain time and throwing confetti in the air, taking only a few minutes to prepare.
