Fans celebrate season launch at Eastern Creek Tavern

10/18/2011 9:28 AM ET

The Sydney Blue Sox kicked off the 2011-2012 Australian Baseball League season by hosting a Season Launch party at Eastern Creek Tavern to introduce the new GM and celebrate the beginning of the season. Members were able to pick up their membership cards and all attendees got a chance to ask questions of the Blue Sox staff. It was a great opportunity to meet and greet old and new friends.

There was a buzz of baseball in the room. David Balfour was able to discuss how he came on board and what the team has implemented within the past five weeks. Along with doubling capacity at "Blue Sox Stadium," there are new Corporate Box options and a Membership Buy Back program. The 21-Day USA Tour was also discussed as well as the raffle opportunity associated with the once in a lifetime trip.

Blue Sox infielder, Trent D'Antonio made an appearance and spoke about his excitement for the upcoming season and the kids were able to hang out with Syd the mascot. Several people in attendance walked away with some Blue Sox dollars to use throughout the season.

Thanks to Eastern Creek Tavern for hosting a great event and to all those that came out!

We look forward to seeing you out at the stadium on Saturday 22 October 2011 for our first exhibition game! Remember use the 'WhoRocks' promotion code for the game, so kids can get in free and you can get a chance to test drive the new on-field seating! The Blue Sox open ABL play on November 4 when they take on the Melbourne Aces at Blue Sox Stadium.

For any questions please contact the office at 02 80061423 or email the Blue Sox at sales@sydneybluesox.com.au.

Went to The Fort in Canberra last night to see the Canberra Cavalry against the Blue Sox.

In front of a sellout crowd, it was a brilliant game.

Any other Canberra people there?

how about Jordany Valdespin, a rookie, gets his first ever hit in the big league for the New York Mets. It was a 3 run home-run in the top of the 9th with 2 to break the tie, and eventually the win. And this was against the Mets' biggest rivals, the Phillies.

Clutch.

On a side note, this Saturday, The Cronulla Sutherland Baseball Club (Sharks since 1960) are playing their first home game of the season down at Tonkin Oval, Cronulla.

It is against the competition favorites Marrickville. 1st grade starts at 2pm, so come down, have a beer, and cheer on the Sharks!
