R.I.P Artie Beetson. Was a true great of our game, and a great man. Could spot talent a mile away as well as he could play the game.

My mother used to work for him at his pub in Redcliffe. She always used to brag about that, when people would talk about what a legend he is. He really was a top bloke, and a legend. R.I.P Artie!

I remember my dad telling me Artie came into his work along with Steve Mortimer years ago back when he worked for AKAI, and said they were both very friendly blokes who were only too happy for a good chat with the workers. Unlike a certain Sharks player, apparently.

A sad day for League. Rest easy big fella.

my dad works with danny lee and was telling me about when the sharkies were playing a pre season comp in qld and one night some of the players decided to pull a prank on coach artie and took most of the springs out of his bed. later on when artie was going to bed, he fell through the bed and there was big bang, id take it artie just wanted to get some sleep so he didnt seem to happy about it. danny said it was the only time hed heard artie angry.
he seemed like a really good bloke

The guy was inspiration to rugby league and the indigenous community. This is a very sad day for rugby league.

I look forward to the all stars game now as it should be played in his memory this year. As I don't think anyone else in the game could best represent an indigenous allstar and a rugby league allstar.

RIP Artie you will be missed and never forgotten.

Artie remains Immortal

BOTH men had stories to tell about the immortal Arthur Beetson, personal accounts that served as a testament to the impact he had on them and the game he loved right up until his last breath.
