Hi there,

Need a bit of info.

The AGM is in April? Can someone provide details of when it is?

This will be the first time i actually vote on board members.

Nothing like a controversy to ensure a high voter turn-out. Not to mention a cast of thousands seeking a place on the board.

It'd be nice if people were always this engaged with their club, year-in, year-out.

I doubt there will be that many people running for the board... seems to be a poison chalice ATM

You only need to be a member of the leagues club to vote for board positions - they're the same board.

Football club voting rights only apply specifically to football club motions, which does not include board voting.

All financial Sharkies Leagues Club members who are registered prior to the Board Meeting prior to the AGM should have the right to vote at the Leagues Club AGM.

The Football Club requires that you are either a honorary life member, a sponsor or that you have purchased voting rights and have had those voting rights for a minimum of two years.

Given that the one Board oversees both the Football Club and the Leagues Club, your Leagues Club Membership should suffice.

This information differs to what i thought was the case. I thought that there was two different boards. One of the football club and one of the leagues club.

To become a voting member you have to pay an extra $30 each year. After 3 years you qualify. Which i do now.

I had to sound that sort of information out. I have had correspondance to the club to ensure that people are informed to vote. This should have been advertised and pushed harder.

I should have been more vocal on this forum about this matter. I had a gut feeling something was fishy last year. I apologise to all Sharks fans, i feel that i should have used this forum a bit more to pushed this more.

Anything can happen to our great club right now with the way it has been run. From what i can make out there are two lawyers on the board, i can't understand why they are letting the club be run the way it is!

A potential candidate at the Cronulla board elections has savaged the directors' handling of the crisis, strongly criticising chairman Damian Irvine.
John Dunphy, the former head of Shimano in Australia, is considering contesting the elections. Candidates have until March 18 to nominate, with members going to the polls in mid-April.
The multimillionaire businessman believes the directors are trying to protect their own interests in standing down coach Shane Flanagan and sacking four of his staffers. While he is yet to decide definitively if he will contest the ballot, Dunphy is adamant the board has mismanaged the situation.

''The consensus is the board has not stood up for the players and they have buckled over,'' Dunphy said. ''Are they saying Shane Flanagan is half guilty or a quarter guilty? Do you put them off or sack them? The physiotherapist - what did he do? Bugger all.
''This is an effort on the board's part to exonerate themselves. The bottom line is … that is their responsibility. What we have here is Irvine saying they knew nothing.''
Attempts to contact Irvine for comment were unsuccessful. Dunphy said he was close to Flanagan and captain Paul Gallen and, given they had protested their innocence, they should be taken at their word. ''If they say they have done nothing wrong, what can they actually admit to?'' he said. ''This tactic of saying, 'We'll give you a six-month sentence and another year on the contract and pay you all the time', that is unacceptable to the people of the Shire. That's unacceptable to natural justice, it's unacceptable to people who, in their own words, have done nothing wrong.''
Dunphy insisted he had not been sounded out about standing for the board, although it's understood some of the Shire's most prominent businesspeople and identities have discussed forming a rebel ticket.
''Of course I would consider getting involved,'' said Dunphy, who will retire as chairman of Shimano in June. ''From now on level heads are the ones which make the call, not done on self-interest or emotive terms.''

And what will he do if the claims turn out to be true?

From my understanding, John Dunphy hasn't had any involvement with Shimano since 2008.

I believe he has a game fishing boat and uses it to take people out on game fishing charters.

It's easy enough to stand on the outside and criticise. But DI clearly loved the guys he sacked and he also has information the public don't. Couple that with his proven track record and we just have to believe he did the right thing.

Did any of our current players or coaching staff support Cronulla as footy fans before they became involved professionally?

Just a thought.

See, the club belong to us, long-serving supporters. NOT paid employees who are really paid to play for our benefit.
