You do occasionally have one or two good ones. then back it up with some simmons crap and it all goes down the toilet

Well seeing as Simmons is more than likely retiring at the end of the season, surely I'm allowed to big note him just a little bit these last three rounds?

Only if he's retiring I'll let you have it.

I know what it's like for your fav player to retire (Kingston I still love you)

True, but would fit our side post Gallen, Lewis, Heino and Toops.
Yeah that's a good point. He's an absolute professional as well and puts the hard yards in during the game. Definitely the sort of bloke I'd want us to target.

Tolman is probably the best possible guy we could get to fill Gal's role and I would love him here. He's a winner. Can't see the Dogs losing him though.

Also, we shouldn't be afraid to say thanks for the memories to Heighno and/or Toops. Not because of form but because injury likelihood lifts significantly their side of 30/32. Heighno has already had calf trouble, the classic old man injury. To have 4 guys (5 if you count Ennis as a forward) all in that bracket leaves us pretty exposed. Also means that we have a lot of recruiting to do next season which puts us somewhat at the mercy of player managers.

Agree AB but we should only do that if we have players in place to fill their roles. Do we have that at the moment or do we have players targeted taht we're trying to buy?

Agree. We probably should be attempting to push at least one of those guys out and replace him with someone younger, but if it can't be done for a better player, having them go around another year (while not ideal) is not the end of the world.

I'm dreading it.

Knowing I probably only have 240 minutes of Simmons game time left, it breaks my heart.

Come on Ivan, give him another year!

Dogs fall short with Mbye offer

Courier Mail – August 21, 2015
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Moses Mbye, News

Canterbury must up the ante to retain Moses Mbye with the Bulldogs’ latest contract offer falling $300,000 short of the Queensland young gun’s price tag.

Mbye plays just his 28th NRL game on Friday against Souths at ANZ Stadium, but market forces and the interest of three NRL rivals have seen his value soar to $800,000 per season.

TOP STORY: Storm boys may lose in Nikorima tussle

With quality young playmakers thin on the ground, Canterbury recognise they have a gem and have made moves to extend Mbye, who is off-contract at the end of next season.

The Courier-Mail understands Bulldogs boss Raelene Castle held talks with Mbye’s management a fortnight ago, with Canterbury prepared to table a $500,000 extension.

Geez that's big money for someone only playing 28 games, just shows what the market is willing to pay for a decent half these days. I hope we aren't one of those clubs but it might mean the Dogs might have to cut a few players loose to keep him.

I smell a Flanno bargain buy !

Young Mbye looks to be a good player/prospect but if I was in charge of a club with finances I'd be always reluctant to pay a guy big money to a player after his 'breakout season', the real good players evolve or continue to look like stars despite the other teams doing video analysis on them, be interesting to see if Mybe still looks the goods in 2016.

I think he will be good but we'll wait & see.

hahaha suck **** Bulldogs.

its isnt really much of a break out season either

Yeah wouldn't of taken much to add some spark to their halves, behind that pack with the Morris boys to pass to.

I guess he's got them over a barrel a bit. Hodkinson is gone meaning if they don't retain him their only half with FG experience will be Reynolds who is a ****ing timebomb and will probably split his season between brainfarts and suspensions.

I'm just worried about the Sharks keeping their own young guns.

Watch the offers come thick and fast for Holmes and Bird in the future.
