I doubt he'll be here next year. Will probably have a very good super league offer that we will hopefully not feel we need to match. Chad's signature is probably enough to end the great Robson era.

Mitch Cornish to depart Raiders
SMH.com.au
– May 21, 2015Canberra Raiders, Daly Cherry-Evans, Gold Coast Titans, Manly Sea Eagles, Mitchell Cornish, News

Miitchell Cornish

The Gold Coast Titans and Manly Sea Eagles are not the only parties eagerly awaiting the end of the Daly Cherry-Evans tug of war, with the future of outgoing Canberra Raider Mitch Cornish likely to hinge on his decision.

Cornish will not be at the Raiders next year after being overtaken in the pecking order by Sam Williams and the recruitment of Titans playmaker Aidan Sezer on a three-year deal.

The domino effect of whether Cherry-Evans inquiriesstays at Manly or honours his Gold Coast Titans deal means Cornish's manager Paul Sutton's hands are tied.

Both Manly and the Titans have made unofficial regarding the off-contract Cornish, who has seen the writing on the wall at Canberra after he was dropped for Williams after four rounds.

& we haven't made contact with him?

Seems like we are happy to run w/ Chad, possibly Robson, Nu, Barba & the young guys coming through the ranks for 2016 onwards.

And Bird, or do you not think of him as a long term 5/8?

I'm undecided, I've liked him there but part of me is waiting for the bubble to burst. 30 years of being a sharkies fan dulls the spirit.

The bubble has burst IMO. I think he's like the other Bird. Decent as a fill in there from time to time but not the position he is best suited to.

Slide what do you think is his position? I can see him being of great value at lock for what its worth!

I still like him as a centre. He's tall and strong with a great close to the line passing game. You'd love to play on his wing if we had a creative half that could give him some space and time.

I think he's probably a centre, second row or lock. He probably needs to put on a bit more weight for the backrow, but that will come.

He seems like a good all rounder really. Maybe he's fine at five-eighth but with a better half to partner him. I mean he's done a pretty good job where he is considering he's very green. I generally prefer two outright half style players with good kicking games though. But that's probably just more my personal preference rather than him not being able to make a go of it.

He can fill in & do a ok job like he is currently doing but he is still finding his feet plus other teams now know what to expect from him. For his sake & the team I think we are better off just letting him play as a footballer without having to be a organizer, albeit a minor organizer at present.

I think initially he is better for us a centre, you could argue he will be wasted at centre & not get enough ball or in our current style of play enough decent or early ball, there's the challenge for Flano, stop only making us a one trick pony side, surely we cant just grind our way game by game season after season.

Back to Jack, you would think he will fill out as he matures, for that reason I think he will end up in the forwards, depending on this ball playing he could well be best served for us as a lock.

He is what he is at present, a nimble young player. In a little over 1 year or 2 he will make a great lock.Present incumbent has been enormous for the club, although different styles l hope he matures in to half the player.

Its interesting when you consider we have a few players on the market Bird and Sandow primarily and no NRL team has put their handup yet and clearly stated we want them . I hope we are chasing Sam Williams , he has matured alot in the last 2 years as a player and that shows now he is back at Canberra , they are a different team when he plays . Austin struggles when he is absent .
