Call me a conspiracy theorist but.......
It's very interesting timing from the NRL to come out and back the Titans right at this point in time with DCE negotiations hotting up.
Just the ticket to sway him to GC (their preferred location for him).

While Foran signing for the Eels is a bit of a worry with regards to giving Manly more money to throw at DCE, I still don't think it will come down to money for him. Everything you read and hear implies that he isn't well liked by a number of Manly players and this would have only gotten worse with him drawing out contract talks, etc through the media.

However, with all the bad publicity the Titans have gotten recently, signing DCE would be just the boost they need heading into the season, so don't be surprised if the NRL are working behind the scenes to get him to the GC.
if you believe all the talk, dce was impressed with our clubs direction and the playing roster, it's beyond me why you would sign with a club when you have no idea what the make up of their side will be, seems silly he will make a decision now considering they have players still to face the court on drug charges, our side for 2016 is pretty much done, besides a few forwards but the players in key areas are locked in for a few years

I'll be shattered if we miss out on him, more so if he goes to the Titans but life will go on and it's onto our next target

I don't think you're too far off the mark, DCE to GC for me too.

The NRL backing the Titans has zero to do with DCE. They did not event the cocaine scandal to get DCE to the Titans.

All the NRL has done is tell him that any deal he signs will be guaranteed by the NRL so he knows he will be paid. They will not give the titans and cap exemptions etc.

Remove the tin foil hat.

So if Foran has now officially signed with Parramatta that makes more money for Manly to re-sign him, if he does sign with us or Parra however that will leave Manly down rock bottom which I would love to see!

Spot on, hamsy.

You've got serious problems with comprehension and/or paranoia if you see anything else in the NRL's position on the Titans' DCE (or any other player) bid.

Cant see a connection to DCE but can see them happy to hang us out to dry in the face of adversity- No comments nothing, but GC get a red carpet to the pedestal.

Well the cocaine scandal happened at the exact same time so it can hardly be a conspiracy.

Swaying him to the Gold Coast is presumably a result of that unfortunate coincidence though (they are trying to save the club). When we were in trouble over the last couple of years the NRL were very good to us so I think it is hard to complain.

Regardless, assuming the money is roughly the same between us, Manly and GC, I think a pretty strong argument could be made to come here.

Pedestal? The Titans are no longer in control of their own destiny the NRL control them - I know I wouldn't want to hand back our licence to get the NRL help.

Still hope we snare him, but this drawn out we lost em at the last stroke of midnight theory that gets thrown around is getting old hat, like carney warriors were meant to guzzumbed us same with lewy from memory... I like we as a club have said its not the best offer (I'm sure 3rd party will bring it close), the NRL may back cherrys Gold Coast contract but I'm sure a fair bit will be 3rd party can't see NRL covering that if sponsors reneg. I'm sure those a lot closer to the coal face know exactly how this is going to play out. I have faith in lyall flanno and gal...(recruiting dream team)

Guarenteeing there future is a pedestal enough, they never did the same for us. The NRL will keep the titans afloat but they would of shipped us off. So it is a little frustrating to see them take over the club and promise the fans The club would be there for years to come, when we were worried about losing our club for 4 years.
The fact that they contacted DCE and told him he would be getting paid is enticing, itd be like working for maccas and having ronald mcdonald calling saying "dont go to kfc we will pay you". It makes a difference.

You're ****ing clueless.

We weren't insolvent so we had no need to cough up our license to the NRL, and they had no reason to fully take control. We needed a CEO so they shipped in Cullen and covered part or all of his salary. They advanced us some grant money. Suspended 60% of our fine for the supplements scandal. All sufficient to see us through. Believe me if we were in the Titan's position they'd of done the same for us if for no other reason than to ensure their massive broadcast deal which requires 16 teams to play 8 games a week.

No one is out to get us. We're our own worst enemy.

I wanted us to handover our liscense?
That they were out to get us?
Mate alot of the stuff that goes on isnt published in the paper believe it or not.
They treated the club like they were dirt.
but ill take my clueless self out of the argument cause I clearly have no idea having worked for the club during said "help" from the nrl.

You made out that the Titans somehow got more assistance than us due to some sort of favouritism, but that was only because they needed more help. They are actually better off now but that is only because they were so horrendously run prior to that.

We cast a dirty great drug cheating shadow over the whole game. How did we deserve to be treated?
