I want him but imagine he signs with the Titans, manly will blow up deluxe if the NRL bankroll his exit, plus parra when they had the whole izzy back from the gaints saga.. As much as we may make rumblings those two clubs will go postal..

Yep i agree. When they said theyd war chest Burgess' return, I was ****in filthy. And that doesnt even have anything to do with us. The NRL cannot allow any club that extra help. ESPECIALLY when they are controlling that club. Where does it stop? Favourable draws? a massive integrity unit rug with a broom?

It was only a few weeks ago they said the look at expansion/relocation/eviction was that ALL clubs needs to show they are sustainable........nek minit

Yes, that's the point I was making. $850k is just the start.

But I'll let others expand on that.

Its funny the reports are that the Titans offer as of today is unchanged from what they have offered before. Which they are saying is 1.3 a year. If thats the case, regardless of the issues at that club, why would he even be wasting his time talking to us IF we were only offering 850k. More to the point, he'd have already signed there last week.

He if signed there last week, he wouldn't have taken his wife down to sharks for show. All reporters keep changing their theory so they can tell us all later they told us so.

What amazes me is that people read one bit of "inside info" and think that DCE is a done deal.

What DCE tells our board and what DCE actually thinks may well be two very different things.

Yeah im not listening too much to the reporters on this. They report figures which are probably nothing like the deals put out. Let alone the finer details which could be determining factors. Everyones talking 3 years. Do you throw in the 4th year now as the lure (with guarantees for pay rises if cap goes up).

either way if we miss out and we've offered up a mil or so, the clubs basically pulled out all the stops but been pipped by the NRL itself. Gutting, but its good to see we are willing to throw the krill around to get the guys that matter

And what some insider says to the Mole is probably something completely different to what the club tells DCE.

Safest best.....let it play out. My only question is, who is DCE's team mates going to be on the GC. Maybe he isnt much of a team mate at Manly and the NRL have said with 5 or more players likely being rubbed out, you can pick your own team and we'll pay for it. Foran and DCE to the GC is my bet

When the outside temperature rises
And the meaning is oh so clear
One thousand and one yellow daffodils
Begin to dance in front of you - oh dear
Are they trying to tell you something?
You're missing that one final screw
You're simply not in the pink my dear
To be honest you haven't got a clue
I'm going slightly mad
I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened - happened
It finally happened - ooh oh
It finally happened - I'm slightly mad
Oh dear!
I'm one card short of a full deck
I'm not quite the shilling
One wave short of a shipwreck
I'm not at my usual top billing
I'm coming down with a fever
I'm really out to sea
This kettle is boiling over
I think I'm a banana tree
Oh dear, I'm going slightly mad
I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened, happened
It finally happened uh huh
It finally happened I'm slightly mad - oh dear!
I'm knitting with only one needle
Unravelling fast its true
I'm driving only three wheels these days
But my dear how about you?
I'm going slightly mad
I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened
It finally happened oh yes
It finally happened
I'm slightly mad!
Just very slightly mad!
And there you have it!

Well if that happens its ****ed I hate Manly but if they were to lose both even I would feel a little sorry for them.

Somthing like that could cause a big problem in league as well most sydney clubs would then be looking at who is really pulling Smiths strings.

This war chest thing is BS No player is bigger then the game, if they wanna leave then **** off. No point having a cap if different clubs have different scenarios, where is the consistency?

While the nrl running the tits means stability. Dce would still have no idea who he will be playing with. Bird and taylor are big names and may or may not be there.

Dont believe the hype
bingo

What confuses me is where mole/others are getting their figures from. We were quoted the other day at 2.5 over 2 years (1.25), and now 2.5 over 3 years (833,000~pa)...But people were talking about TPA's and all sorts of stuff, so who's to say our offer isnt equal or more than 1.3mil per year anyway??
i think you might be onto something right there mate...

If you were a bookmaker taking bets on where DCE will sign what market would you set up for:

Sharks
Manly
Titans
Dogs
Dragons (according to Pete Badel)

Sharks 4-5
Manly 2-1
Titans 6-1
Dogs 12-1
Dragons 80-1

113% market (a fair rate)

Flanno on dce:
"As a club we've got this direction ... that kid can play football and he's probalby going to be the Test half-back for a couple of year. WE'd love to have him, Gal's got a year or two to go and we nedd to move on. That type of player would take us to another level. Can we get him? I'd say definitely ... we definitely won't be the highest bidder so he'd be coming for the right reasons. We're a chance and he'd be coming for the right reasons ... we'll probably know by the end of next week."

FLANAGAN: It's up to Daly, we've put a proposal to Daly about the future and he was really impressed with that (so we'll see what happens).

Flangan: The Australian half-back wanting to come to Cronulla, that's a big change. We're one of two clubs so that's a credit to where the club's heading.
