I do not see why I have to explain myself it's pretty self explanatory if you have half a brain.

If DCE goes to Titans they have to shed some guys on decent coin. We will no doubt hit hard at Sezer and why would we not entice Bird to re join us if we lose heighno and lewis.

Gal bird merrin had a big riff in aussie camp a few years back because DCE thought he was king and thought he was bigger than the team. Thought he should be starting over cronk and Thurston who also do not like his attitude. He is not a well liked character. He won everything too young and it went straight to his head.

Taumololo would be dumb to turn down the ridiculous offer thrown at him by NZ so I can't see him going elsewhere.

Merrin will go to Penrith unless we chuck huge coin at him. Flanno is working hard on getting peachey back to the shire so I can see the Panthers letting him return to cater for Merrin.

In regards to Maloney I cannot see the roosters re signing him. They have langi and hastings in the waiting. I can see maloney ending up at the Sharks. We will chuck something at him. He is a handy enough player.

The problem is his price tag for me, he could very well cost us a chance at a quality half or cost us one of our young guns.

Between Fifita, Graham, Arona (off contract), Bukuya, Prior (off contract), Tagataese (off contract), Roqica, Bird and even D Fifita we have a few options to take us forward.

Merrin is a very good footballer and you wouldn't say no to him signing for your side. I would just like us to make sure we have a balance between our spine, backs and forwards before we go committing to a second HUGE contract in the forwards.

I like the way Merrin plays and all but this is a good sensible post that I agree with. 7 or 8 weeks ago I was convinced we needed to sign another prop for this season but I think we can get away with it for the time being with all things considered

We don't need to buy two halves.
We don't and I think it would be silly however it wouldn't be a completely terrible thing either. Barba to FB, Holmes to wing and we know there will be Origin duties and injuries in there. I'm not sold on Barba at 5/8 just yet despite some promising early signs

Probably because replacing two 32 year olds with a 31 year old is the epitome of idiotic recruitment and retention.

They have to, do they? In spite of shedding Kelly and a few others already?
No doubt hit hard at Sezer? Why? Why is there no doubt?
Why would we entice bird? He was sacked by our club once, are you so sure he wants to come back, if he could? Who said Heighno intended to retire?
Merrin will go hey? And Flanno is working hard at Peachey hey? Are you co-opting the Lurker's 100% track record* now?
Why would we chase Maloney when we already have a 5/8 in Barba, and players like Nu, Murphy, et al. waiting to be developed?

Why would bird return? To play with gal one last time before hanging up his boots.

Why wouldn't you go for sezer. He has a sweet left foot and a great long kicking game which we lack.

Peachey is returning if Penrith want to secure Merrin. They can't afford him otherwise.

My gut feeling tells me heighno does not get much game time this season and hangs them up. We will see.

Murphy is not maloney and who is to say we re sign him. Nu is being groomed to take over Michael ennis as hooker.

So, in sum: Here's some **** I've plagiarised almost verbatim from journalists in recent times plus some pure speculation and branded as my own little nifty insight into the mysterious world that is player recruitment and player-manager strategy.

Thanks HB and yes the young'ns wouldn't know But just for you, here's the first verse I wrote before realising it wasn't going to work:

Oh DCE, Oh DCE
What's on your mind this morning DCE?
We've been waiting for so long,
Please tell us Dosit's got it wrong
We'd like to think you'll sign with us oh DCE.

Oh DCE, Oh DCE
Sign on the dotted line for all to see
Flanno says he's your best mate
It's time to shut that Manly gate

Positively Mr Flanagan? Absolutely DCE!

I'll now get my coat...

Haha I like it mate.

I think Val on the wing for the next 4-5 years would be a waste though, assuming Barba is here for that long. I think Barba will do well at 5/8 next to a decent half, not sure how he will go with a spud like Robbo so I won't judge him too harshly this year. I have also heard others in here who have seen a lot more of Val than me suggest he could make a good 5/8 one day, so between him and Barba you would think we're set there. To me there's no point in buying a 5/8, complete waste of resources imo.

NSW and Australian prop James Tamou could make a shock shift to Sydney next year in a move that would free up funds for North Queensland to retain star forward Jason Taumalolo.

Taumou is contracted to the Cowboys until the end of next year but is keen to return to Sydney for family reasons. Along with fellow representative bookends Matt Scott and Ben Hannant, the 26-year-old forms arguably the best club front-row rotation in the game.

Agree boys, I think if the hype matched his actual performances he would be good, I scratch my head how he got picked in SOO this year as well.
